Max Steel[edit]

Main article: Max Steel (2013 TV series)

In the 2013 reboot of Max Steel, there are four lizard-like creatures known as elementors. Each elementor is taken from one of the four classical elements and have appearances and powers based on their respective elements: The earth elementor is made of rock, has geokinesis and can repair itself, the fire elementor is made of flaming lava rock, has pyrokinesis and is faster than the others, the water elementor is liquid and has hydrokinesis and the air elementor is made of clouds and wind and is the most powerful (having flight and aerokinesis). The four of them can combine into a single, four-armed being with the combined powers of all of them. In Season 2, a fifth, Metal elementor is added and is the strongest and smartest of the group. It has magnetic powers similar to Magneto and can liquify/solidify itself.

Ellington and Critelli applied the Jungian symbols to the Enter- prises' four senior officers who "form a perfect quaternity of opposing personality types" - a main part of the series' fascination: Kirk and McCoy represent both the "extraverted, intuitive, thinking-type", Scott and Spock are the "introverted, sensa- tion, feeling type[s]"; together, these "symbols of hope" create a "model of effective functioning for personality as a whole"100.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3rd_Rock_from_the_Sun

3rd Rock from the Sun (sometimes referred to as simply 3rd Rock) is an American sitcom that aired from 1996 to 2001 on NBC. The show is about four extraterrestrials who are on an expedition to Earth, which they consider to be a very insignificant planet. The extraterrestrials pose as a human family to observe the behavior of human beings.

Alex occasionally alludes to Christ, such as when he refers to himself as a Christ figure in Part One, calling himself the “fruit of [his mother’s] womb,” and again in Part Two, when he mentions turning the other cheek after being punched in the face. Second, the repeated Christ references subtly insinuate that the State is using Alex’s violent impulses against him. Alex’s impulse toward violence twice leads him to identify with the Romans who torture and crucify Christ. In this way, Alex unwittingly aligns himself with the State, since the Romans who crucified Christ were, in effect, the “State” of biblical times.

THE FOUR PALM TREES

Eventually all of the characters arrive at Santa Rosita State Park at about the same time and search for the big W. Emmeline, who wants no part of the money and doesn't take part in the search, looks up from taking a drink from a water fountain and sees, in the distance, "The Big W", composed of four palm trees growing in the shape of the letter "W". Pike finds it next and informs everyone else. Culpeper, who saw Emmeline's discovery, orders all policemen to leave the area and goes in solo to retrieve the money. Presumably disillusioned by the greed and reckless behavior of so many supposedly law-abiding people during the course of the day, Culpeper now plans to take the money to Mexico to escape his own dysfunctional family and an apparently unappreciated career as an honest cop with a very small pension. After everyone digs up the money, Culpeper identifies himself and talks them into turning themselves in, promising a jury will be more lenient. But when the group sees Culpeper fleeing with the money, they realize what's happening and give chase in the two cabs. When the chase becomes a foot pursuit, Chief Aloysius (William Demarest), who had (unbeknownst to Culpeper) blackmailed the mayor to triple Culpeper's pension, reluctantly tears up the pension papers and orders Culpeper's arrest.

PALE MAN EYES ON HAND ALLUDE TO STIGMATA OF CHRIST CRUCIFIXION- CROSS IS THE QUADRANT

https://kmcgowan9.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/pale-man.jpg

https://kmcgowan9.wordpress.com/2013/04/17/delinquent-youth-as-christ-figures-in-film/

This explanation of the Pale Man parallels with Alex’s personality and character traits. Alex sacrifices others for his own gain whether it is monetary, sexual pleasure, or obscure enjoyment, similar to the Pale Man. Even when Alex sacrifices himself for the experiments, he is only doing it for himself. Furthermore, the eyes on his cuff are similar to the eyes on the hands of the Pale Man, which is an implication of stigmata, and further more a figure of Christ.

PASOLINI FOUR FILM MYTHICAL CYCLE

But it was after this film that Pasolini would begin directing his “Mythical Cycle”, comprised of four films- Oedipus Rex, Porcile, Medea, and finally my personal favorite of the group, Teorema, in which British actor Terrence Stamp plays the role of a mysterious visitor who corrupts an average Italian household.

A FOURTH WAS ADDED TO THE THREE- NOW FOUR USED THE DYNAMIC BETWEEN FOUR AND THREE

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple-camera_setup

In the late 1970s, Garry Marshall was credited with adding the fourth camera (known then as the "X" Camera, and occasionally today known as the "D" Camera) to the multi-camera set-up for his series Mork & Mindy. Actor Robin Williams could not stay on his marks due to his physically active improvisations during shooting, so Marshall had them add the fourth camera just to stay on Williams so they would have more than just the master shot of the actor.[5][6] Soon after, many productions followed suit and now having four cameras (A, B, C and X or D) is the norm for multi-camera situation comedies.[citation needed]

http://zelda.gamepedia.com/Tetra

Tetra's name could be derived from the Ancient Greek word meaning "four," similar to Tetris. It could also be derived from an actual Tetra, a type of South American freshwater fish, adding to the sea-faring theme of the game. Tetra could also allude to tetrahedron, more specifically the net, which is the physical shape of the Triforce.

Four plays

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Count_of_Monte_Cristo

Alexandre Dumas and Auguste Maquet wrote a set of four plays that collectively told the story of The Count of Monte Cristo: Monte Cristo Part I (1848); Monte Cristo Part II (1848); Le Comte de Morcerf (1851) and Villefort (1851). The first two plays were first performed at Dumas' own Théâtre Historique in February 1848, with the performance spread over two nights, each with a long duration (the first evening ran from 18:00 until 00:00). The play was also unsuccessfully performed at Drury Lane in London later that year where rioting erupted in protest at French companies performing in England.

The adaptation differs from the novel in many respects: several characters, such as Luigi Vampa, are excluded; Whereas the novel includes many different plot threads that are brought together at the conclusion, the third and fourth plays deal only with the fate of Mondego and Villefort respectively (Danglars fate is not featured at all); the play is the first to feature Dantès shouting "the world is mine!", an iconic line that would be used in many future adaptations.

THE MOVIE PROMETHEUS AND THE CRUCIFIX (ALIENS ANGRY BECAUSE CRUCIFIED JESUS)- crucifix imagery- CRUCIFORM IMAGERY

http://cavalorn.livejournal.com/584135.html

On the face of it, it seems absurd to suggest that the genesis of the Alien xenomorph ultimately lies in the grotesque human act of crucifying the Space Jockeys' emissary to Israel in four B.C., but that's what Ridley Scott proposes. It seems equally insane to propose that Prometheus is fundamentally about the clash between acceptance of death as a condition of creating/sustaining life versus clinging on to life at the expense of others, but the repeated, insistent use of motifs and themes bears this out.

Here's where the Christian allegories really come through. The day of this strange birth just happens to be Christmas Day. And this is a 'virgin birth' of sorts, although a dark and twisted one, because Shaw couldn't possibly be pregnant. And Shaw's the crucifix-wearing Christian of the crew. We may well ask, echoing Yeats: what rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouches towards LV-223 to be born?

QUICK EDIT: Just noting down some of the other Christian symbolism I missed, with thanks to those who pointed them out: David washes Weyland's feet, and I'm told that when Janek and his co-pilots sacrifice their lives to save the Earth, they apparently stand in the form of crucifixes, their arms held out. ('Hands up'?) So you have three 'crucified' guys, one in the middle higher up, the other two on the sides, lower down. All a bit Calvary. However, I don't remember that bit very clearly myself, so I'll have to go see it again.

4D film or 4-D film is a marketing term for an entertainment presentation system combining a 3D film with physical effects that occur in the theatre in synchronization with the film. Effects simulated in a 4D film may include rain, wind, strobe lights, and vibration. Seats in 4D venues may vibrate or move a few centimeters during the presentations. Other common chair effects include air jets, water sprays, and leg and back ticklers. Hall effects may include smoke, rain, lightning, air bubbles, and smell.

Dr Bruce Maccabee did an extensive triangulation of the four videotapes, determining that the objects were near or over the Goldwater Proving Grounds.[29] Page 5 of Dr. Maccabee's analysis refers to Bill Hamilton and Tom King's sighting position at Steve Blonder's home. Blonder has worked with Dr. Maccabee to fully include his sighting position in the triangulation report. Maccabee has also refined three other sighting positions and lines of sight in 2012.[30]

An unidentified former police officer from Paulden, Arizona is claimed to have been the next person to report a sighting after leaving his house at about 9:15 MST. As he was driving north, he allegedly saw a cluster of reddish or orange lights in the sky, comprising four lights together and a fifth light trailing them. Each of the individual lights in the formation appeared to the witness to consist of two separate point sources of orange light. He returned home and through binoculars watched the lights until they disappeared south over the horizon.[6]

FOUR CHARACTERS

https://www.ssbwiki.com/Mario_(universe)

Four characters from the Mario franchise are playable in Brawl, not counting any sub-franchises, in which case the total number is eight. On the final character select screen (after all characters are unlocked), the first two columns are dedicated to the playable Mario characters, with the first column being the Mushroom Kingdom denizens, and the second column being the sub-series stars.

MarioIcon(SSBB).pngMario: Mario, the face of gaming, was given a slight character model redesign for his appearance in Brawl as his appearance is based off his current design from the later Mario games, such as Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine. He is also armed with F.L.U.D.D. this time around, replacing the Mario Tornado from the previous games. Like the rest of the Brawl roster, Mario has a new Final Smash. His is a massive fireball that expands as it engulfs the stage, called the Mario Finale. Mario is ranked 31st in the current tier list, his balance an impediment when others excel in many areas.

LuigiIcon(SSBB).pngLuigi: Luigi returns as an unlockable veteran once again. He remains similar to his brother, but has been further differentiated from him with several new attacks. In addition, Luigi still retains his Luigi Cyclone, giving him another special move unique from Mario. Like Mario, his appearance is also based off his current design from the later Mario games, such as Luigi's Mansion. Luigi's Final Smash, Negative Zone, creates a huge circular field of energy that has random effects on enemies caught inside. He is currently 28th on the tier list, his bizarre physics both a boon and a curse.

BowserIcon(SSBB).pngBowser: Bowser also makes a return after first appearing in Melee. His newfound Final Smash is Giga Bowser Transformation, in which he transforms himself to Giga Bowser for a short period of time to increase his power substantially. Bowser is considered the least viable of the Mario universe characters, even when subseries are taken into account, clocking in at 33rd on the tier list.

PeachIcon(SSBB).pngPeach: Peach reappears from Melee. Her new Final Smash, Peach Blossom, involves Peach blowing numerous kisses that damage all enemies and put them to sleep while a vast amount of peaches fall from the sky. Though she has fallen from her high Melee showing to 19th on the tier list, she is still a solid choice and is still the highest ranking of the non-subseries Mario characters.

four types story star trek
http://schnorchelfabrik.de/facharbeit/fa00.pdf
Roddenberry called it Star Trek. With his friend Oscar Katz, that time programming-director of Desilu studios, he worked out the concept. As Katz stated12, "there were four kinds of stories on Star Trek. First, the spaceship is out for a five-year mission on some sort of 'police action'. [...] We go to a [troubled] planet and settle the dispute, whatever"; secondly, the crew should deal with interior problems, people helping other people on the ship to solve their personal difficulties. The third type of story is that the spaceship sojourns to a planet with inhabitants similar to the human crew, perhaps quarreling as our race did in history in many wars, so "our leads use their knowledge of what happened on earth to help these people." Or the natives "are two hundred years ahead of us". Finally the crew lands "on a planet where the atmospheric conditions are different, people don't look like us, and things are very different", the science fiction part of the story.

FIRST FOUR NOTES FOURTH DIFFERENT

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dough_Re_Mi

If nobody could identify the song, the fourth note was then put up for bid in a similar format to The Price is Right. Each player, one at a time, would take turns bidding any amount of their bankrolls until either a bell rang or all players had stopped bidding.

The first four notes were then played for the contestant with the highest bid. If the song title was guessed correctly, the contestant won the value of the song. If the title was guessed incorrectly, the contestant could recoup by challenging their opponents. If the challenged player could not guess the title of the song, the challenger lost half of their bid and bidding started for the fifth note, and so on. However, if the challenged player correctly guessed the title, the challenger lost their entire bid and the challenged player won the value of the song.

THE FOUR DROOGS OF A CLOCKWORK ORANGE

http://villains.wikia.com/wiki/Alex%27s_Droogs

The names of the four droogs are of both Greek and Russian origin and can be referred to one of the greatest leaders and followers in Greek, English and Russian history. Alex's name is short for Alexander which ironically means "Defender of mankind" and can be referred to Alexander The Great or the three Alexanders who where the Tsars of Russia. Georgie's name is a form of George "Farmer or Earth Worker" and may be referred to the Saint George Church of Russia, Saint George of Lydda or the six Georges who where the great kings of England. Dim's name may be a short form of Dimitri or Demitrius "Follower of Demeter" and can refer to Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki who was a Christian Martyr. Pete's name is short for Peter "Rock" and can refer to Saint Peter who was one of the disciples and most beloved of Jesus Christ or Peter The Great of Russia.

THE FOUR SPACECRAFT REPRESENT FOUR GODS START JUDGEMENT OF PARIS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interpretations_of_2001:_A_Space_Odyssey

Homer's epic poem The Odyssey, which is signalled in the film's title. Wheat notes, for example, that the name "Bowman" may refer to Odysseus, whose story ends with a demonstration of his prowess as an archer. He also follows earlier scholars in connecting the one-eyed HAL with the Cyclops, and notes that Bowman kills HAL by inserting a small key, just as Odysseus blinds the Cyclops with a stake.[19] Wheat argues that the entire film contains references to almost everything that happens to Odysseus on his travels; for example, he interprets the four spacecraft seen orbiting the Earth immediately after the ape sequence as representing Hera, Athena, Aphrodite and Eris, the protagonists of the Judgment of Paris, which begins the Epic Cycle events of the Trojan War that conclude in Homer's Odyssey.

IRON CROSS

In the film, US Air Force insignia, and flag insignia of China and Germany (including what appears to be an Iron Cross) can be seen on three of the satellites,[60] which correspond to three of the bombs stated countries of origin in a widely circulated early draft of the script.[61]

X FILES CRUCIFIXION

http://flashbak.com/sci-fi-cross-crucifixion-pose-sf-film-tv-33293/

In the seventh-season The X-Files (1993 – 2002) episode “Amor Fati,” Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) undergoes a difficult experience that resembles the crucifixion. In this story, Mulder — in the process of becoming a genetic hybrid of man and alien — is captured by the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) and forced to endure torturous medical experiments. In the lab, Mulder is strapped to a table that is shaped like a giant X or from another perspective: a Catholic cross. Atop his head rests a fastener with vise-grips. The surgical table represents a high-tech version of Christ’s cross, and the helmet is a stand-in for Jesus’s crown of thorns, described in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and John.

The remainder of the story adapts Nikos Kazantzaki’s novel The Last Temptation (1953) to X-Files lore, as the Cigarette Smoking Man – doubling as Satan – attempts to convince Mulder not to pursue his quest, uncovering the truth.

Instead, the villain wants Mulder to live an “ordinary life” of mortal, earthly pleasures. Mulder nearly goes the latter route, until confronted/rescued by Scully (Gillian Anderson). In doing so, we must assume he rescues the future of the human race, saving it from alien colonization and slavery.

In addition, the Romans deployed in a checker-board (Quincunx) formation across the army lines, which doesn't really make a lot of sense if the aim was simply for two lines of men to crash into each other. One possibility is highlighted in the film Spartacus - Kubrick has his Quincunx formation march forward and to the left and right to form into a solid line.

His influence on his prison mates and the torture that he endures is compared to that of Jesus, and Christian symbolism is used throughout the film, culminating in a photograph superimposed over crossroads at the end of the film in comparison to the crucifixion. Filming took place on the San Joaquin River Delta, and the set, imitating a southern prison farm, was built in Stockton, California. The filmmakers sent a crew to Tavares Road Prison in Tavares, Florida, to take photographs and measurements.

Pierson included in his draft explicit religious symbolism.[4] The film contains several elements based on Christian themes, including the concept of Luke as a Saint who wins over the crowds and is ultimately sacrificed.[24] Newman's character of Luke is portrayed as a "Jesus-like redeemer figure."[25] After winning the egg-eating bet, Luke lies exhausted on the table in the position of Jesus as depicted on his crucifixion. After learning about the death of his mother, Luke sings "Plastic Jesus."[26] Greg Garrett also compares Luke to Jesus, in that like Jesus, he was not physically threatening to society because of his actions, and like Jesus' crucifixion, his punishment was "out of all proportion."[27]

As the camera zooms out, the torn photograph of Luke grinning with the two women is superimposed on a bird's eye view of the cross-shaped road junction

Despite this, he remained friendly with the group, and all six began writing Monty Python and the Holy Grail; Cleese received a credit on three episodes of the fourth series which used material from these sessions, though he was officially unconnected with the fourth series. LOGAN AND THE CROSS THE X- THE QUADRANT- CROSS IMAGERY IN FILM- the X in Xavier is the cross

http://www.avclub.com/article/cross-its-side-logan-gets-religion-251473

James Mangold’s Logan, which draws heavily on Western stories about gunfighters in twilight, ends with the moving gesture of a makeshift cross being turned on its side to make an X.

Considering the bleak conclusion of the farmhouse episode (and the fate of the Munsons themselves), the scene retroactively becomes the saddest in the film, though in the moment, it appears to be the warmest. I’ll point out a small detail: there is a cross behind Logan throughout the scene, a small cross sitting just out of the light on the Munsons’ mantel.

Of course it belongs there, too, because if an observant rural family like the Munsons didn’t have a cross on the mantel, it would seem like an oversight on the part of the set dressers. But all crosses are, by definition, symbolic

And despite Logan’s eventual self-sacrifice and his scars and puss-filled wounds (which could easily be framed like stigmata), there is no way in hell that Mangold is going to let this troubled, word-weary killer come across as a suffering superhero messiah. Logan is almost biologically immortal and Xavier is (or was) a nearly omnipotent telepath, and there is something poignant about the fact that the film assigns a search for meaning and a need to make up for the sins of the past to a couple of mutants whose superpowers might be often considered god-like.

2001 SPACE ODDYSEY FOUR EPISODES THREE PLUS ONE

http://www.filmsite.org/twot.html

The film is composed of four episodes. Three of the major sections are subtitled:

The Dawn of Man

A primeval ape man makes a breakthrough - becoming endowed with intelligence after experiencing a mysterious black monolith.

(The Lunar Journey in the Year 2000) - untitled

Eons later, a similar monolith is discovered on the lunar surface in the 21st century, sending its signals to Jupiter.

Jupiter Mission, 18 Months Later [(in 2001 or 2002)]

A futuristic, 18-month journey to Jupiter.

Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite

A mystical experience in another time and dimension.

Monoliths link the primeval, futuristic, and mystical sections of the film. [Note: Originally, the Discovery was to visit the planet Saturn, but the special effects team couldn't realistically reproduce the rings of the planet, so Jupiter was used instead.]

CRUCIFIED HERO SHOT

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/AlasPoorVillain/VideoGames

The main antagonist of Xenosaga, Albedo, exhibits this trope as well. After commenting positively about the fact that he will no longer have to fear losing anyone (a fear which was the catalyst for his decent into psychopathy to begin with) in oblivion, he tells the protagonist, whom he has known since childhood and who is clearly distraught by the climax of their encounter: "What's with that face? You look like... you just lost your best friend." Junior himself is on his knees crying at this point, and you should be too. Ironically, he cries out for the antagonist not to 'leave him alone', a sentiment the antagonist exhibited in childhood upon realizing that he was immortal and would outlive the people in his life. Except the seriousness of this scene could be ruined given that little girls in angel wings take him away in a crucified antagonist shot... with one literally holding onto his leg.

CRUCIFIXES AND CONTROVERSY CRUCIFIX

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Exorcism

Nell steals their camera and goes into her father's barn, where she brutally smashes a cat to death. The crew, Iris and Daniel, discover her morbid paintings. They depict Marcus standing before a large flame with a crucifix, Iris cut into pieces, and Daniel decapitated. When everyone learns Nell is pregnant, Marcus accuses Louis of incest. Louis insists that Nell is a virgin and has been defiled by the demon. The crew wants to leave; Nell attacks Marcus, and Louis threatens to kill her with his shotgun. Nell begs him to kill her but to keep Louis from doing so, Marcus offers to attempt a second exorcism.

In the UK, a poster image for the film showed a young girl, wearing a blood-spattered dress, bent over backwards below a crucifix. This poster received 77 complaints, the complainants describing it as "offensive", "distressing", and "unsuitable for public viewing". Two people also claimed the girl in the poster seemed to have suffered a sexual assault, a complaint which was not upheld. The Advertising Standards Agency decided that the image could not be used on a publicly visible poster since that was an untargeted medium but was acceptable on the back cover of Cineworld magazine.[27][28]

Many things took place in Vikings Season 2 Episode 4 - but, let's be honest, Athelstan's crucifixion was definitely the biggest surprise of the night.

We knew Ragnar and King Ecbert would meet to discuss some kind of compromise and Ragnar would ask for lands to farm, right?

It was also just a matter of time before Lagertha and Bjorn would raise an army to help Ragnar take back Kattegat.

However, though clues about tonight's brutal crucifixion had been dropped like little breadcrumbs, it still came as quite a shock. Visions of a bleeding bible anyone?

Keepers of the Streak is a documentary by ESPN Films that focuses on four photographers who have attended and photographed the first forty-eight Super Bowl games from 1967 to 2014. John Biever, Walter Iooss, Mickey Palmer and Tony Tomsic are the focus of the film, and have their stories told throughout. It is directed by Neil Leifer.

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (Italian: Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma), titled Pasolini's 120 Days of Sodom on English-language prints[2] and commonly referred to as simply Salò (Italian: [saˈlɔ]), is a 1975 Italian-French horror art film directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini. It is based on the book The 120 Days of Sodom by the Marquis de Sade. The film focuses on four wealthy, corrupt Italian libertines, during the time of the fascist Republic of Salò (1943-1945). The libertines kidnap eighteen teenagers and subject them to four months of extreme violence, sadism, and sexual and mental torture. The film explores the themes of political corruption, abuse of power, sadism, perversion, sexuality and fascism. The story is in four segments, inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy: the Anteinferno, the Circle of Manias, the Circle of Shit and the Circle of Blood. The film also contains frequent references to and several discussions of Friedrich Nietzsche's 1887 book On the Genealogy of Morality, Ezra Pound's poem The Cantos, and Marcel Proust's novel sequence In Search of Lost Time.

STORY OF WANDERING JEW LAUGHS AT JESUS CRUCIFIXION- CROSS IS THE QUADRANT

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wandering_Jew#cite_note-74

The Wandering Jew is a mythical immortal man whose legend began to spread in Europe in the 13th century.[1]

The original legend concerns a Jew who taunted Jesus on the way to the Crucifixion and was then cursed to walk the earth until the Second Coming. The exact nature of the wanderer's indiscretion varies in different versions of the tale, as do aspects of his character; sometimes he is said to be a shoemaker or other tradesman, while sometimes he is the doorman at Pontius Pilate's estate.

Nathaniel Hawthorne's stories "A Virtuoso's Collection" and "Ethan Brand" feature the Wandering Jew serving as a guide to the stories' characters.[32]

In 1873 a publisher in North America (Philadelphia, Gebbie) produced The Legend of the Wandering Jew, a series of twelve designs by Gustave Doré (Reproduced by Photographic Printing) with Explanatory Introduction. For each illustration there was a couplet, such as "Too late he feels, by look, and deed, and word, / How often he has crucified his Lord".[33]

There are clear echoes of the Wandering Jew in Wagner's The Flying Dutchman, whose plot line is adapted from a story by Heinrich Heine in which the Dutchman is referred to as 'the Wandering Jew of the ocean',[36] and his final opera Parsifal features a woman called Kundry who is in some ways a female version of the Wandering Jew. It is alleged that she was formerly Herodias, and she admits that she laughed at Jesus on his route to the Crucifixion, and is now condemned to wander until she meets with him again (cf. Eugene Sue's version, below).

In O. Henry's story "The Door of Unrest" a drunk shoemaker Mike O'Bader comes to a local newspaper editor and claims to be the Jerusalem shoemaker Michob Ader who did not let Christ rest upon his doorstep on the way to crucifixion and was condemned to live until the Second Coming. However, Mike O'Bader insists he is a Gentile, not a Jew.

In the 1988 film The Seventh Sign the Wandering Jew appears as Father Lucci, who identifies himself as the centuries old Cartaphilus, Pilate's porter, who took part in the scourging of Jesus before his crucifixion.

NIGHTMARE VISIONS OF CRUCIFIXION- CROSS IS QUADRANT

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Seventh_Sign

It becomes apparent that "David Bannon" is actually the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Abby's nightmares are visions of his original crucifixion, and she is the reincarnation of Seraphia, the woman who offered Jesus water prior to his death only to be turned away by Cartaphilus, Pilate's porter who struck Jesus.

ISCARIOT SEES JESUS CRUCIFIXION

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Way_of_Cross_and_Dragon

The sect follows a religious text, The Way of Cross and Dragon, that describes the life of Iscariot, and revises his place in Christianity. The text describes how, born of a prostitute, Iscariot mastered the dark arts to become a tamer of dragons and the ruler of a great empire. After torturing and maiming Christ, Iscariot repented and relinquished his empire to become the penitent Legs of Christ, the first and best-beloved of the Twelve Apostles. Returning from proselytising to find Christ crucified, an enraged Iscariot then destroyed the perpetrating empire and strangled St. Peter for renouncing Christ, only to discover, too late, Christ's Resurrection. Rejecting Judas' violence, Christ restored St. Peter to life and gave him the keys of the kingdom. St. Peter then suppressed the truth about Judas, vilifying his name and exploits. Seeking redemption for his wrath, Iscariot became the thousand-year-old Wandering Jew, before finally rejoining Christ in the Kingdom of God.

WANDERING JEWS AND GYPSIES BECAUSE OF THE CRUCIFIXION- CROSS IS QUADRANT

http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Wandering_Jew

Heinrich Heine noted a strong correspondence between the legend of the Wandering Jew and that of The Flying Dutchman. Similar legends involve the origins of the Gypsies. In one version, the Gypsies descended from the blacksmith who created the nails used in the Crucifixion. The Gypsies' constant wandering and exclusion were explained by their betrayal of Jesus much in the same way the exclusion and pogroms against Jews were explained. An alternate version told by Gypsies themselves is that a clever gypsy stole some of the nails before Jesus was put upon the cross, thus easing his suffering a little bit and being blessed for all time.

THE LAST TEMPTATION (the fourth)- JESUS IS SHOWN WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO MARRY HAVE A FAMILY AND ALL THAT WHILE ON THE CROSS

http://digitalcommons.unomaha.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1851&context=jrf

Screenwriter Paul Schrader, an admitted Calvinist, adapted The Last Temptation from the Nikos Kazantzakis novel which engages in a fictional exploration between the two natures of Christ - divine and human. The film was not intended to be a Gospel portrait. The fictional aspect, which apparently provoked opponents of its release, centered around a vision presented by the devil to the Jesus of the film while on the cross. In this vision, Jesus is shown what it would have been like to marry, have a family, live until an old age, and die a natural death. The struggle for the Jesus of the film is the torment between his human wishes for a normal Jewish life and his longing to accomplish the divine mission set before him. The aesthetic value of the film is that Jesus conquers these temptations and carries out his sacrificial death by crucifixion.

FOUR PILLARS OF THE SCHOOL
http://www.stevencscheer.com/deadpoetssociety.htm
The ceremonies that open the new school year of 1959-60 at Welton Academy in Vermont are reminiscent of a church service. There is, of course, nothing wrong with such ceremonies, nor can we find fault with the "four pillars" of the school, "Tradition, Honor, Discipline, Excellence." The immediate aftermath of the opening ceremonies continues the church-service feel. Mr. Nolan, the headmaster, stands in the doorway shaking hands with the parents of returning students who compliment him for the "thrilling" or "lovely ceremony" he has just performed. It is also here, during the opening ceremonies, that the new English teacher, John Keating, is introduced to the student body.

ALLUSION TO THE CRUCIFIXION IN DEAD POETS SOCIETY- crown of thorns then sacrifice

http://www.stevencscheer.com/deadpoetssociety.htm

During the quiet of the cold winter night, in front of an open window, Neil seems to enact a strange ritual with what appears to be a crown of thorns on his head (a stage prop left over from his role as Puck, but also reminiscent of the crucifixion), while he exposes his naked body to the elements. He then quietly walks down to a study where, pulling a handgun from what is apparently his father's desk, he shoots himself dead. The sound of the gunshot awakens Mr. Perry who immediately goes searching for his son by walking from room to room in the house, followed by Mrs. Perry. When he stumbles upon the body, he cries out repeatedly, "Oh, Neil! Oh, My God! . . . Oh, my son! . . . My son! My poor son!"

CRUCIFIXION ALLUSION MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM

It was the dice that did it, gave him the clue, like a light going on, like a key turning in a lock.

A couple of Roman soldiers passed the time at the foot of the Cross rolling some dice. We have been told this by John — John the Baptist, that is, not John Hudson.

“And now look at the death of Pyramus,” says drama revisionist John Hudson, stirring his tea. “Look at the parallels.”

He means Pyramus as played by Bottom the Weaver — he of the ass’s head that so charms Titania — in the Rude Mechanicals’ assault on the tragedy of Pyramus and Thisbe in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” an entertainment by, until this moment, a certain William Shakespeare.

“First this Pyramus is stabbed in the side. Then the light disappears, as in the Gospels. And then there’s a game of dice. Excuse me!” says John Hudson with a Brit’s plus a statistician’s asperity, “but that’s the Crucifixion! A comic Crucifixion.”

CRUCIFIXION SCENE

https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems-and-poets/poets/detail/aemilia-lanyer

The Crucifixion scene presented in lines 1145-1264 has two interesting additions to the original. The first is the visual focus on the crucified Christ: "His joynts dis-joynted, and his legges hand downe / His alabaster breast, his bloody side ..." (lines 1161-1162). Imagining the visual scene of the Crucifixion had long been a pious Christian exercise, though more encouraged in the Catholic than in the Protestant tradition. Focusing the female gaze on the male body is not a usual pious exercise, however, and that female gaze is underscored by Lanyer's second addition to the Crucifixion scene. At this point in the poem Lanyer turns "To my Ladie of Cumberland" to comment: "This with the eie of Faith thou maist behold, / Deere spouse of Christ, and more than I can write" (lines 1169-1170). Although the church as a whole (and each individual soul) was conventionally referred to as the "spouse" of Christ, here the countess is brought into the story personally and specifically. She is placed firmly at the foot of the cross and presented as Christ's particular spouse, who truly sees ("with the eie of Faith") the dying body of her beloved: "His count'nance pale, yet still continues sweet, / His blessed blood watring his pierced feet" (lines 1175-1176).

The conclusion of the Crucifixion section in lines 1265-1268 is even more remarkable, since the pictures of Christ's Crucifixion and its saving grace, the disruption of the world and the overthrow of tyranny, are all portrayed as a gift from the poet to the countess:

PARODIES CRUCIFIXION- CRUCIFIX IS QUADRANT

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emilia_Lanier

The main poem is prefaced by ten shorter dedicatory works, all to aristocratic women, beginning with the queen. There is also a prose preface addressed to the reader, comprising a vindication of "virtuous women" against detractors of the sex. The title poem, a long narrative work of over 200 stanzas, tells the story of Christ's passion satirically and almost entirely from the point of view of the women who surround him. The title comes from the words of mockery supposedly addressed to Jesus on the cross. The satirical nature of the poem was first identified by Boyd Berry.[15] Although the topics of virtue and religion were considered to be suitable themes for women writers Lanier's title poem is a parody of the crucifixion which uses imagery of the Elizabethan grotesque[16] found for instance in some of the Shakespearean plays, to mock Jesus on the cross. The views expressed in the poem are "independent of church tradition" and utterly heretical.[17] However they resemble the religious satires that scholars have found in the Shakespearean works including the poem The Phoenix and the Turtle[18] and in many of the plays, which the experimental New York Shakespeare ensemble The Dark Lady Players has been performing onstage since 2007.

Paralleling the expulsion from Eden in the final Cookham poem, in the central section of Salve Deus the poem takes up the Querrelle des Femmes[19] by redefining the Christian doctrine of 'The Fall' and attacks Original Sin which is the foundation of Christian theology and Pauline doctrine about women in particular. Lanier defends Eve, and womankind in general, arguing that Eve has been wrongly blamed for the original sin of eating the forbidden fruit, while no blame has been pointed at Adam. She argues that Adam shares most of the guilt by concluding that Adam was stronger than Eve, and thus, he should have been able to resist the temptation. She also defends women by pointing out the dedication of the female followers of Christ who stayed with Him throughout the Passion, and looked for him first after the burial and resurrection. She also draws attention to Pilate's wife who attempted to intervene and prevent the unjust trial and crucifixion of Christ. Lanier reproaches mankind by accusing them of crucifying Christ. She also notes the male apostles that forsook and even denied Christ during His crucifixion and Passion. Lanier repeats the anti-Semitic aspects of the Gospel accounts including hostile attitudes towards the Jews for not having prevented the crucifixion: these views are of course the norm for her period.

BRAVEHEART CRUCIFIXION- CROSS IS QUADRANT

http://bibleblogireland.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Braveheart-Cross-2-624x268.jpg

http://bibleblogireland.com/?tag=braveheart

As you look at Braveheart the movie what word sums up the whole life of William Wallace? It’s got to be ‘freedom’. As a boy the memory of his father said, “Your heart is free. Have the courage to follow it.” When inspiring the men to fight at Stirling he gave his famous stirring speech ending with, “They may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom.” Then finally after being led through the crowd carrying a crossbeam and being laid on a wooden cross-shaped block he draws his last breath and with it shouts ‘Freedom‘ as his life leaves his body. It summed up his life in a single word. It was loud and as the crowd watched him they remain speechless.

Braveheart Cross 1 Braveheart Cross 2

Jesus, too, carried his crossbeam with the crowd looking on. He too took it toward the place of execution. He too was placed on a wooden cross. And at the moment of his death he too cried out in a loud voice. “Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit” And having said this he breathed his last.” (Luke 23:46Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)). Firstly, he said he committed his spirit to the Father. Just like Wallace’s last word, this sums up all that characterised the life of Jesus. He had at all times committed himself to God, the Father, in loving faithful submission. Secondly, notice how Jesus called out with a loud voice. Nobody would have expected that to happen. Most victims of crucifixion did not say a word in their final moments as they are so weak they could hardly even breathe. But here Jesus called aloud. Such was the force of it that it made the Roman centurion standing there realise something profound about who hung there on the wooden cross in front of him. He would have seen hundreds if not thousands of crucifixions before. But never before had he met this person. It would have taken supernatural strength to exclaim loud intelligible words at the moment of death. Wallace’s cry of freedom simply proclaimed his life’s purpose but Jesus’ words revealed more than his life’s purpose, they also revealed his identity. The Gospel writer Mark tells us the centurion’s reaction, “And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!” (Mark 15:37Open in Logos Bible Software (if available) and 39Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)). Have you realised who Jesus is yet? Has his life, death, and resurrection made you take notice that he was and is the Son of God sent into the world to bring true spiritual freedom to all who trust him? Trust him today.

As William Wallace is in his prison cell hours before his public execution princess Isabelle visits him one final time. Contemplating his execution had become too much for her to bear so she pleads with him to take a sedative to dull his pain. At first he refuses saying “No. It will numb my wits and I must have them all for if I’m senseless or if I wail then Longshanks will have broken me.” He wants to be in control of his own thoughts rather than let the sedative do the talking for him. He wants to keep all his wits about him so he does not unwittingly plead for mercy. Doing that would undermine all he stood for. After Isabelle pleads again he accepts it but spits it out once she has left the room. He knows he will feel the pain to the full.

Braveheart Spit

So when Jesus was led to Golgotha to be publicly executed by crucifixion: “they offered him wine to drink, mixed with gall, but when he tasted it, he would not drink it.” The drink offered to Jesus was made of wine rendered acid, “mixed with gall”. This means the already bitter wine was made more bitter by the infusion of some other bitter substance. This mixture was commonly given as an anaesthetic to those who were crucified to make them less sensitive to pain.

CROSS IMAGERY
http://www.textweek.com/movies/coolluke.htm
In the final scene, Dragline is reminiscing/preaching about Luke and the torn photograph of Luke with the two prostitutes is superimposed on the shot. As the camera pulls away further into the sky, the crossroad becomes a cross and Luke of course is imposed on it. I think this is even more interesting image of crucifixion than the scene following the egg eating episode. (Dean Cramer)
Luke lies in shape of cross after eating the 50 eggs

Luke's mother's name is Arletta (Our Lady), and when he learns about her death, he sings about the Virgin Mary sitting on a abalone shell. In his conversation with his mother, he makes sure his brother John ought to receive the inherited land, just as Jesus made sure John and Mary took care of one another from the cross. Some Christians might have a hard time reconciling the image of an ancient, smoking, hacking woman as the Virgin Mary, but there it is... (Tim Ihssen)

This film has several resurrections, starting with his "crucifixion" following the egg incident. The other, as was mentioned, was his picture being taped up and superimposed on a cross. A third was when he was ordered to dig his own grave, and kept on crawling out; he finally gave up the ghost, and the reaction of his "disciples" was very interesting. The ignored him as a "sell out," which is what the disciples might have felt when he died that Good Friday - 'Here we put all our marbles in this one hat, and he goes and dies on us. What a waste. Boy, were we ever stupid. This isn't God after all - it's just a guy, like you and me, a guy who can be killed.' Which made his ensuing escape even more victorious. (Tim Ihssen)

MOVIE IN WHICH JESUS IS CRUCIFIED
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_of_Kings_(1961_film)
King of Kings is a 1961 American Biblical epic film made by Samuel Bronston Productions and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Directed by Nicholas Ray, the film is a dramatization of the story of Jesus Christ from his birth and ministry to his crucifixion and resurrection, with much dramatic license.

Many years later, a series of rebellions break out against the authority of Rome, so the Romans crucify many of the leaders and place Herod the Great on Judea's throne.

Pilate is infuriated by Antipas's returning of Jesus and commands his soldiers to scourge him. The people demand the release of Barabbas and Pilate bows to their pressure and sentences Jesus to be crucified. Jesus, wearing a crown of thorns on his head, carries his cross to Golgotha where he is crucified with two thieves, one of them being the penitent thief Dismas.

The episode ended where we began. Not literally, of course, but in a similarly operatic and ridiculous fashion. Hannibal in swimming trunks, noose around his neck, wrist sliced open and splayed in the style of crucifixion, all while balancing precariously on a bucket. This is too much, but I feel that it was that way on purpose. It's the orderly doing his overworked imitation of a murder tableau and being way out of his element. There's no actual artistry to it; it's just the vulgarity of a mind left to its own devices. It looks "good" because of the show picking a great spot, but from a character perspective, there's no there there.

They wanted to erase their pasts; Andy did so in jail and Jesus did so through his crucifixion. Andy was buried and arisen in a metaphorical sense, while Jesus was in a literal sense. They both eventually found salvation at the end of their known story lines.

Lastly, Bible references were present throughout the film. The safe for all of the finances in the warden's office was hidden behind a Bible verse. Although the warden claimed to be a devout Christian, it is later revealed how he goes against many of Christianity's basic morals. Also, one of the most famous cinematography motifs in the movie is once Andy escapes from the prison, there is a scene where he stands with arms outstretched with the rain pouring down on him. This was specifically meant to look like Jesus on the cross. It is difficult not to see all of the similarities between the story of Jesus Christ and Andy Dufresne's character.

SHOWS CRUCIFIXION OF JESUS - CROSS IS QUADRANT

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_of_Nazareth_(miniseries)

Jesus of Nazareth (Italian: Gesù di Nazareth) is a 1977 British-Italian television miniseries directed by Franco Zeffirelli and co-written by Zeffirelli, Anthony Burgess, and Suso Cecchi d'Amico which dramatises the birth, life, ministry, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_of_Nazareth_(miniseries)

For the crucifixion scene, Powell starved himself on a diet of only cheese for 12 days prior to shooting "in order to look worn".[1]

In the film, Pontius Pilate, having convicted Jesus of treason, sentences Him to be crucified. The Gospels record that Pilate acquitted Jesus, but sentenced Him under pressure from the crowd.

The Gospels and the film both relate an account of a Roman centurion who petitions Jesus to heal his sick servant. The film, but not the Gospels, presents the same officer (portrayed by Ernest Borgnine) as one of the soldiers standing at the foot of the Cross, where he sympathetically allows Mary to approach her son.

Marcus Reichert crucifixion

THE CRUCIFIXION BY MARCUS REICHERT

Exhibited at Canterbury Cathedral (1999) and Winchester Cathedral (1999-2000), these massive paintings confront one with what Sister Wendy Beckett has called their terribilita. Described by Richard Harries, the Bishop of Oxford, as being among the most disturbing painted in the 20th century, Reichert's Crucifixions command the viewer's attention not only with their depiction of the magnitude of Christ's agony but also with the eloquence of their painterly qualities. The American critic Donald Kuspit has written that both Picasso's and Bacon's Crucifixions, in their singular lack of commitment to the subject, pale when compared with Reichert's. Kuspit writes: 'The image of an isolated human being in the process of being annihilated by the world and his own anxiety is one that speaks to every person in our anomic society. What makes Reichert's crucified Christ modern is his angry incomprehension at his suffering.'

MERK DIEZ THE HUMACHINE- CRUCIFIXION POSES IN TERMINATOR

http://rioranchofilmreviews.blogspot.com/2009/06/terminator-salvation.html

The film opens with a prisoner on death row called Marcus Wright talking to a bald Helena Bonham Carter. She has terminal cancer and wants him to donate his body to science after his execution. He resists a little but eventually gives in. And then if you haven’t already figured out that he’s going to become a robot when Helena gives him a form with a Cyberdyne Systems logo on it (a name familiar to fans of the franchise), it’s really rammed down your throat with a gratuitous crucifixion pose – when he’s given a lethal injection, he’s briefly raised, while strapped down, just in case he has any final words.

So this guy is going to be resurrected, right? And is he going to suffer and have to give his life so that he can save mankind? You betcha.

He even has to suffer another crucifixion pose just in case people didn’t get the subtle symbolism at the beginning. See, Marcus doesn’t know that he’s a robot and eventually hooks up with a resistance pilot. She leads him back to the resistance base and he steps on a mine. But it doesn’t kill him. You know, which on the one hand is nice, but on the other hand it’s pretty bad because humans don’t like robots much. So poor Marcus gets strung up in another crucifix pose and people shoot guns at him. But because he’s flesh with a gnarly robot skeleton, it doesn’t hurt him. It just makes his skin look bad.

CRUCIFIXION IN SOUTH PARK STATIONS OF THE CROSS EPISODE

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_Combustion_(South_Park)

Cartman and the other South Park children reenact the Stations of the Cross, the depiction of the Passion (final hours) of Jesus, which end with his crucifixion.[5] The line Stan quotes, which he mistakes for a Bible verse, is a line spoken by Spock in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."[6] During a church service, the priest refers to two players who left the Denver Broncos: Neil Smith, who left the team in 1999 after becoming a free agent, and Steve Atwater, who joined the New York Jets in 1999.[2] When Officer Barbrady passes by Cartman and says "T, T is for turtle", he is impersonating the typewriter from Sesame Street. Randy's daydream, which depicts a mummy chasing Stan, Kyle and himself through a series of doors, is a reference to Scooby-Doo. Kyle's dad hears a Bob Dole commercial for an erectile dysfunction medicine when listening to the radio in his office.

STAR TREK THE COUCHBED IN THE EPISODE IS SHAPED LIKE A CROSS- KIRK AND MCCOY IN CRUCIFIXION POSES

http://www.theviewscreen.com/the-empath/

But by then Spock has gotten the transporter device to work and they agree to beam back to the lab and try and save the doctor. Joined by Gem, they find McCoy in the same crucifixion position that Kirk was in–but he’s in much worse shape. Gem looks like she’s about to throw up as Spock cuts down the chains. They put McCoy on a bed but Spock confirms the obvious: McCoy will die.

When Kirk recovers, Gem heals his wounds–which include wrist abrasions like stigmata. And if you look at the couch/bed that they use throughout the episode, it’s shaped like a cross.

One of four alternate endings of Blaire Witch Project was crucifixion

Update: /Film found that four alternate endings have actually been on YouTube for a few years, and you can watch them below. They include an alternate in the corner take, Mike staring at the camera, Mike hanging and, yes, Mike crucified, though it’s way less exciting than you’d expect. Here they are in that order.

“We went back to that house with a skeleton crew and basically just shot all the endings that Ed and I threw out when we were dreaming up the script,” said Myrick. That included “Mike hanging from a noose, crucified on a wooden stick man, and with a bloodied chest.”

GAME DOESNT HAVE THE FOURTH CASTE BECAUSE THE FOURTH CASTE IS DIFFERENT- TALKS ABOUT HOW THE CENTRAL DOCTRINE IN BUDDHISM IS THE FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS THE FOURTH IS DIFFERENT

http://www.ckiiwiki.com/Indian_religions

Indian characters are divided into three varnas or castes, marked in-game by traits:

Brahmin.png Brahmins, the priests. +0.5 Karma/month.

Kshatriya.png Kshatriyas, the soldiers and nobles. +0.5 Prestige/month.

Vaishya.png Vaishyas, the craftsmen and merchants. +0.03 gold/month.

(The fourth caste, the Shudras (slaves/servants), is not represented in-game.) The castes correspond to religious (temple), feudal (castle) and city holdings, respectively. Hindus may only give holdings to characters of the appropriate caste. Characters may only marry within their caste. Children belong to the same caste as their parents, while a child of parents from different castes gets the lower of the two parental castes.

Buddhism's central doctrines are the Four Noble Truths, and the Noble Eightfold Path. The Four Noble Truths tell one that all things mortal and physical are transient and ultimately unfulfilling, leading to only suffering. The Noble Eightfold Path (which is the fourth of the Four Noble Truths) teaches the way to spiritual enlightenment, and release from worldly desires (which generate karma which bind people to the Wheel of Life). Buddhism teaches these offer an escape from suffering by acknowledging all these karma debts to become completely detached from worldly bindings, and therefore, detached from the Wheel of Life.

FOUR ELEMENTS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_elements_in_popular_culture

The classical elements and their use in literary history have served as the subject of various published books. In The Elements: Earth Ice Fire Water (How Artists See), Colleen Carroll examines "how the four elements have been depicted in works of art from different time periods and places."[5] In Legends of Earth,Ice,Fire and Water, Eric Hadley and Tessa Hadley provide a "collection of myths and legends from different parts of the world about the four basic elements without which life would not be possible."[6] According to Publishers Weekly, in Earth, Fire, Water, Ice, Mary Hoffman and Jane Ray collect "snippets of factual information, myths, stories, poems and musings in this fascinating volume about the four classic elements."[7]

The reception of the classical elements by scholars and mainstream critics varies considerably, largely depending on the medium and/or use of the classical elements. For example, the classical elements have served as significant plot elements in the various Mortal Kombat fictional universes. Blaze, a fire elemental, appears in multiple Mortal Kombat games, including as the end boss in the most recent game. The film Mortal Kombat: Annihilation features Elder Gods based on the four elements, which are mentioned chastisingly in Christian reviews.[8]

MY LIFE IN FOUR CAMERAS

Each one of these would challenge what a sitcom is capable of and would all be suitable choices for “Structurally Sound”, but it’s the show’s fourth season entry, “My Life in Four Cameras” that’s particularly special and going to see focus here because not only is it structurally impressive, it’s also an episode that’s specifically about sitcoms.

TEAM OF FOUR

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I.D._(1995_film)

John (Reece Dinsdale), an ambitious young police officer, is sent undercover to join a violent football firm associated with the fictitious club Shadwell Town to track down the 'generals' - the shadowy figures who orchestrate the violence. His team of four gradually ingratiates itself into the lives of The Dogs, the nickname that Shadwell's fans give themselves. The main site for this is The Rock, a public house around which The Dogs' lives revolve. Gradually, the hard drinking, hard fighting macho world - where Saturday's match and Saturday's rumble are all that matters - proves irresistible and John slowly finds himself turning into one of the thugs he has been sent to entrap.

CRUCIFIED CLOCKWORK ORANGE

http://www.jeremyriad.com/blog/art/art-multiples/medicom-toy-announces-the-second-coming-of-christ-unlimited/

“The Christ Unlimited figures were not designed especially for A Clockwork Orange. They formed part of my studio work at the time, and, after seeing them there, Kubrick wanted to use them for the film because they probably had the futuristic look he and his wife wanted. In the late sixties and early seventies, we, London based artists, felt terribly hip. We didn’t want to fight the establishment so much as shock them. Christ Unlimited was inspired by a crucified Christ statuette that I had found. The left arm and both legs from the waist down had been broken off. I replaced them in a more joyous pose – that of a dancer in the midst of a popular folk dance from the Balkans and the Middle East, known as The Butchers Dance.”

INGALLS WROTE UNDER NAME JUD CRUCIS WHICH MEANT JESUS CRUCIFIED

http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Don_Ingalls

Ingalls knew Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry from their days as officers of the Los Angeles Police Department in the early 1950s. The following decade, Ingalls wrote two episodes for Roddenberry's Star Trek: The Original Series, the first being the first season's "The Alternative Factor". This was followed in the second season by "A Private Little War", for which he chose to be credited under the pseudonym Jud Crucis. He substituted this name after Roddenberry rewrote the episode, removing many of his overt Vietnam parallels. Jud Crucis was Ingalls' wordplay on "J[esus] Crucified." (citation needed • edit)

FOUR PILLARS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hera

When Hera discovered that Leto was pregnant and that Zeus was the father, she convinced the nature spirits to prevent Leto from giving birth on terra-firma, the mainland, or any island at sea. Poseidon gave pity to Leto and guided her to the floating island of Delos, which was neither mainland nor a real island where Leto was able to give birth to her children. As a gesture of gratitude, Delos was secured with four pillars. The island later became sacred to Apollo. Alternatively, Hera kidnapped Eileithyia, the goddess of childbirth, to prevent Leto from going into labor. The other gods bribed Hera with a beautiful necklace nobody could resist and she finally gave in.[53]

ROBOCOP CRUCIFIXION SHOT HAND STIGMATA AND CROWN OF THORNS

http://unrealitymag.com/movies/five-christ-figures-as-depicted-in-science-fictionfantasy-movies/

Now, before you scoff at this suggestion, know that director Paul Verhoeven intended to portray Robocop as a Christ figure. If you look for the symbolism throughout the movie, it isn’t difficult to pick up on exactly what Verhoeven was thinking. Detroit, overrun with crime and corruption, desperately needs a savior. That savior arrives in the form of a cyborg, but his parallels to Christ are sprinkled throughout this incredibly violent movie. Officer Alex Murphy is brutally murdered, shot first in his hand, then his body, and eventually his head, symbolic of Christ’s crucifixion, with the headshot analogous to the crown of thorns. Murphy is resurrected in a new form – Robocop – and set to serve and guide the people who look to him as a savior. Toward the end of the movie, during Robocop’s final confrontation with Clarence Boddicker, Robocop can be seen walking on water, an obvious hat tip to the man J.C.

CRUCIFIED UPSIDE DOWN CROSSES PLANET OF THE APES

http://thepinksmoke.com/beneaththeplanetnovelization.html

"Row upon row of naked gorillas, hanging from inverted crosses staked to the ground, glowed wickedly in the sunlight. A mass crucifixion, awesome in all its implications, to match the Roman massacre of Christians along the Appian Way* in another equally terrible time. Zaius' scholarly blood ran cold. Ursus' face darkened. Fire and smoke, both sourceless and spread out like a blaze encompassing the world, had also appeared, seemingly from nowhere. And still the mutilated gorillas hung crucified from their upside-down crosses."

RIPLEY IN ALIEN MAKING CRUCIFORM CROSS QUADRANT POSE

http://unrealitymag.com/movies/five-christ-figures-as-depicted-in-science-fictionfantasy-movies/

One could argue that Ripley serves as a Christ figure to Newt in Aliens, but I think that’s a bit too much of a stretch. What does work, though, is Ripley as a Christ figure in David Fincher’s Alien 3. Ripley lands on a planet, the only human inhabitants of which are male prisoners and guards, and her sudden arrival and uniqueness spur heated religious debate and inner relection amongst the men. More significantly, Ripley sacrifices herself so that the Queen Alien growing inside of her will die, too. Hammering home the point that this sacrifice is analogous to Christ dying for the sins of humanity (with the Alien Queen representative of the sins), Ripley spreads her arms as she drops down into a large furnace, a pose easily recognizable as, once again, Christ on the cross. Also like Jesus, Ripley returns to life in another form (for Ripley, it’s as a clone) in Alien: Resurrection. If and when Jesus returns, let’s hope it’s not in a crappy, unnecessary sequel.

PLANET OF THE APES- VISIONS OF APES BEING CRUCIFIED UPSIDE DOWN

http://apes.wikia.com/wiki/Forbidden_Zone

Detecting the oncoming gorilla army, the mutants unleash their cache of psychic weapons, showing the apes visions of other apes painfully crucified upside down, surrounded by a ring of fire, then a giant statue of the Lawgiver that begins to bleed, then crackle and topple onto the ape army. Sensing a trick, Dr. Zaius rides into the middle of the visions, emerging unharmed. Their primary defense proving ineffective against the apes, the mutants each "take cover in his private shelter", while their leader (named Méndez) orders the bomb armed, aiming it toward Ape City. While Taylor and Brent conclude that the mutants don't know how powerful their weapon actually is, the apes and mutant humans prepare to battle to the death, and the whole planet may become a Forbidden Zone.

PLANET OF THE APES BOMB REPLACED CRUCIFIX

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Planet_of_the_Apes_characters

Their object of worship is an ancient "Holy Weapon of Peace"; an Alpha-Omega nuclear missile left over from the 20th century and still operational, though its original controls have long been replaced by carefully crafted jewel and crystal workings. They have installed the bomb in the former St. Patrick's Cathedral before the organ pipes, in place of the crucifix. They see their life's purpose as to guard the Divine Bomb, and to keep watch on the apes; should the apes become a threat to their underground life, the Bomb will be used to destroy them. However, what is little understood is that the Alpha-Omega Device - which possesses a cobalt casing around its warhead - was designed to ignite the Earth's atmosphere, and extinguish all life on the planet, not just the apes. Méndez XXVI wears a large gold rendering of the bomb as a pendant, much like a crucifix.

PASSION OF THE CHRIST HUGE BOX OFFICE SUCCESS https://screenwritingfromiowa.wordpress.com/tag/e-t-the-extra-terrestrial/

The biggest game changer being The Passion of the Christ. Oddly, the violent retelling of the crucifixion of Christ became the all time R-rated box office champ. Mel Gibson’s $30 million dollar gamble eventually  paid a dividend of $600 million at the world-wide box office. Despite it’s predicted failure at the box office, in the year it was released (2004) it became the seventh highest grossing movie ever. (With the audience it found some would say it paved the way for films like The Book of Eli and The Blind Side.)

TRUMAN IN THE TRUMAN SHOW CRUCIFIED POSE CRUCIFORM CROSS LIKE BODY POSTURE- QUADRANT

http://www.cinematherapy.com/birgitarticles/the-truman-show.html

Truman's desire to find the truth as well as Lauren is a compelling force that ultimately drives him to face and conquer his great fear of the ocean. He charters a boat, enters the water that kept him contained, and is soon exposed to the anti-Christ, "Christ-off's", worst tempest. For Christof, the demands of the show take precedence over any other values. Into the manufactured deadly storm, he broadcasts his threatening voice down to Truman, "I AM the Creator...", while Lauren whispers a simple prayer as she is watching The Truman Show on TV. Soon Truman is knocked out by the storm and lies with his arms outstretched on the boat as though he died. Ropes form the sign of the cross on his chest, emphasizing his crucified-like body posture.

At the film's zenith, all hell comes crashing down at Sebastian's memorial at the beginning of the new school term. Sex, guilt and death collide, altogether detonated by Kathryn's cocaine-filled rosary crucifix that is forced open by her father, powering white all over her dark uniform. “Whilst there was no specific college being channelled, I just knew that I wanted the palette to be dark, being that the scene in the church things have taken such a dark turn. I used navy sweaters with navy and grey plaid skirts.”

The journal shows all of Sebastian's inner thoughts: his conquests, his description of the bet, and a page on Kathryn, which finally exposes her manipulative and deceitful ways, including the fact that she hides a vial of cocaine in a crucifix she wears in the rosary beads around her wrist. The headmaster takes Kathryn's crucifix and opens it, spilling the cocaine. Kathryn's spotless reputation is destroyed, and people finally see her for the troubled, callous mastermind that she is.

DREDD WAS CRUCIFIED

Jonni Kiss was an international hitman from Euro City who had a habit of kissing his targets before he killed them. He specialised in killing judges, and killed many judges from cities all over the world, including the supreme judge of East-Meg Two, Josef Traktorfaktori.[143] His biggest job came when a mission to kill Dredd was offered to him. Although Dredd was crucified as a result of his actions, Kiss ultimately failed to kill Dredd, and was himself killed by Dredd.[144]

Ninjago[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_elements_in_popular_culture

Main article: Lego Ninjago

In the Lego Ninjago theme the land of Ninjago was created by four elemental weapons, The Scythe of Quakes, the Nunchucks of Lightning, the Shurikens of Ice and the Sword of Fire. The main series focuses on four ninjas, each with one of the four elements in them. (and personalities mirroring them). Cole (Black ninja of Earth) has super-strength, terrakinesis and invulnerability, is portrayed as Team leader and has no fear, Kai (Red ninja of Fire) has flight and pyrokinesis and is somewhat hotheaded, Jay (Blue ninja of Lightning) has flight, teleportation, electrokinesis and is the chatty, fast-talking brains (and jokester) of the group and Zane (White ninja of Ice) has cryokinesis and is intelligent, serious and calm. During the first season of the show, the main character Lloyd Garmadon joins the team as the Green Ninja (Master of all four elements and Energy) and gains the powers of the other four ninjas, along with the ability to fire green energy blasts from his hands and in season 2, he is able to create golden energy constructs similar to Green Lantern. In season four, it is revealed that the ninja are not the only ones with elemental powers and that there are other elements: metal, gravity, nature (referencing to plants), smoke, sound, form, poison/toxicity, light, shadow, speed, mind, water and amber (the ability to absorb or replicate other elemental powers), along with the element of wind being introduced in season five. Also in season 5, it is revealed that Kai's sister Nya (the sole female member of the team) is the master of Water. Coincidentally, Nya's relationships with the original four ninjas corresponds to how water reacts with their particular elements: she is able to quench Kai's hot temper, she is Jay's girlfriend, she can erode Cole's hard exterior to reveal his soft side, and she shares interests with Zane. Later on in the seventh season, the element of Time is introduced and serves as a primary focus.

ONE OF THE ALTERNATE ENDINGS BLAIRE WITCH WAS CRUCIFTION ON THE WICKERMAN ESQUE FIGURINE (LOOKS LIKE A QUADRANT)

While clearly one alternate ending wasn't enough, the directors really went to town to craft a myriad of different ideas. In particular, they filmed scenes of Mike hanging from the ceiling, Heather discovering his mutilated corpse, and perhaps the most interesting concept, Mike crucified on a Wicker Man-esque figurine.

I SAW THIS MOVIE FOR A CLASS AT UCSD THERE IS A CRUCIFIXION OUTSPREAD ARM IMAGE IN THE MOVIE

https://newrepublic.com/article/120348/stanley-kauffmann-reviews-mike-nichols-graduate

At the wedding, when he finds it—and of course it is in an ultra-modern church—there is a dubious hint of crucifixion as Ben flings his outspread arms against the (literal) pane of glass that separates him from life (the girl); but this is redeemed a minute later when, with the girl, he grabs a large cross, swings it savagely to stave off pursuers, then jams it through the handles of the front doors to lock the crowd in behind them.

But he also had a broad and deep range of cultural reference points. Lady Divine is introduced lying naked on a divan, her rear towards the camera, admiring herself in a mirror, a Naked Maja straight out of classical girlie art. And later a Catholic icon, the Infant of Prague, comes to life and guides Divine to her destiny, a lesbian encounter with a crucifixion fetishist who encourages her to orgasm with the help of some rosary beads, inserted anally, and the instruction: “Think about the Stations of the Cross!”

The resulting very noisy sex scene plays out against a series of flashbacks to the events leading up to the Crucifixion, whose reading of the Passion of the Christ as a BDSM tableau predates Mel Gibson by decades.

BAD LIEUTENANT- PENETRATED WITH A CRUCIFIX- LIETENANT SEES THE CRUCIFIED CHRIST AND BREAKS DOWN IN TEARS AT THE FORGIVENESS- CROSS IS THE QUADRANT

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_Lieutenant

At the hospital, the Lieutenant spies on the nun's examination, and learns that she was penetrated with a crucifix. Later that evening, he pulls over two teenage girls who are using their father's car without his knowledge to go to a club. As they have no driving license, the Lieutenant tells one of the girls to bend over and pull up her skirt, and the other to simulate fellatio while he masturbates. The following day, he listens in on the nun's deposition, where she says she knows who assaulted her but will not identify them.

Continuing his drug use, the Lieutenant picks up his $30,000 share from the drug dealer and calls the bookie personally to place his bet. He then visits a woman (Zoë Tamerlis Lund) and does heroin with her. At the church, he tells the nun that he will kill her attackers, but she repeats that she has forgiven them and leaves. In the resulting emotional breakdown, the Lieutenant sees the crucified Christ and tearfully curses him before begging forgiveness for his crimes and sins. The figure is revealed to be a woman holding a gold chalice, which turns out to have been pawned at her husband's shop.

FOUR CATEGORIES- four numbers

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_House_(game_show)

The host read a true or false toss-up question, with a correct answer giving that couple $50 and control of a question board of four categories. Each category had a multiple-choice question with three possible answers. After the couple gave their answer, the opponents had the option to challenge and select a different one. The couple with the right answer won $100, or $150 in the event of an unsuccessful challenge. Each team could challenge twice during the round. Once a category had been played, it was removed from the board and a new toss-up was asked. The round continued until all four categories had been used.

In the bonus round, the couple tried to open a set of "Golden Doors" by programming the correct combination into the electronic lock that kept the doors closed. The lock consisted three rows of four numbers each, and only one of the numbers in each of the three rows was part of the combination. To narrow the odds, the couple attempted to remove the incorrect numbers from the lock.

SPACE ODYSSEY WAS ONE OF MY GRANDPAS FAVORITE MOVIES THE MONOLITH FOUR TIMES IN THE MOVIE AND DIVIDED FOUR EPISODES

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interpretations_of_2001:_A_Space_Odyssey

Rolling Stone reviewer Bob McClay sees the film as a four-movement symphony, its story told with "deliberate realism".[25] Carolyn Geduld believes that what "structurally unites all four episodes of the film" is the monolith, the film's largest and most unresolvable enigma.[26] Each time the monolith is shown, man transcends to a different level of cognition, linking the primeval, futuristic and mystic segments of the film.[27] McClay's Rolling Stone review notes a parallelism between the monolith's first appearance in which tool usage is imparted to the apes and the completion of "another evolution" in the fourth and final encounter with the monolith.[28] In a similar vein, Tim Dirks ends his synopsis saying "The cyclical evolution from ape to man to spaceman to angel-starchild-superman is complete".[29]

The monolith appears four times in 2001: A Space Odyssey on the African savanna, on the moon, in space orbiting Jupiter, and near Bowman's bed before his transformation. After the first encounter with the monolith, we see the leader of the apes have a quick flashback to the monolith after which he picks up a bone and uses it to smash other bones. Its usage as a weapon enables his tribe to defeat the other tribe of apes occupying the water hole who have not learned how to use bones as weapons. After this victory, the ape-leader throws his bone into the air, after which the scene shifts to an orbiting weapon four million years later, implying that the discovery of the bone as a weapon inaugurated human evolution, hence the much more advanced orbiting weapon 4 million years later.[29]

Now, I don’t like it when directors fall into the ugly trap of naïvely equating a character’s suffering with Christ’s martyrdom. It feels cheap—unless the director can bring an added nuance to the allusion. Which Florey does admirably, with the crucified prostitute here.

This could suggest that the symbolism of crucifixion was revered by the Engineers, and perhaps they introduced this powerful and brutal method of execution to their ‘children’ on Earth in order to further inculcate the key ideological principle of death preceding new life (this would have occurred many millennia before the Roman empire came into existence). However – and this represented the final straw – Christ’s followers believed that after three days and nights Jesus was resurrected; and after another forty days he ascended to Heaven to sit at the right hand of God – as an immortal. . .

THE CROSS IN THE MOVIE PROMETHEUS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prometheus_(2012_film)

Scott suggested that an Engineer was sent to Earth to stop humanity's increasing aggression, but was crucified, implying it was Jesus Christ.[53][55][56] However, Scott felt that an explicit connection in the film would be "a little too on the nose.

Shaw is the only religious believer in the crew and openly displays her religious belief with a necklace of a Christian cross. Lindelof said that with her scientific knowledge, her beliefs felt outdated in 2093. Shaw is excited when she learns that she was created by the Engineers and not a supernatural deity, but rather than cause her to lose her faith, it reinforces it. Lindelof said that asking questions and searching for meaning is the point of being alive, and so the audience is left to question whether Shaw was protected by God because of her faith. Scott wanted the film to end with Shaw's declaration that she is still searching for definitive answers.[55] In addition to the religious themes, Lindelof said that Prometheus is pro-science and explores whether scientific knowledge and faith in God can co-exist.[62]

ALIEN COVENANT AND THE CRUCIFIX

http://www.alien-covenant.com/topic/43299

Early sketches of the Auriga even had it shaped in the form of a crucifix to match the theme.Prometheus even more so than that as it literally deals with our creation. We have Shaw who is driven by her faith(a major point of contention with fans as far as The character goes)to meet our makers, our Gods if you will. There are some possible links from what transpired on LV-223 to the crucifixion of Christ.

For non religious fans, the religious angle can be an eye rolling experience. It might be better to keep the concepts to the human condition. Observing Shaw throwing a fit in her condition when David grabbed her crucifix was almost laughable.

In a work on alchemy in the 16th century, Paracelsus identified four types of beings with the four elements of alchemy: gnomes, earth elementals; undines, water elementals; sylphs, air elementals; and salamanders, fire elementals.[23] Most of these beings are found in folklore as well as alchemy; their names are often used interchangeably with similar beings from folklore.[24]

Nowhere Boys[edit]

Main article: Nowhere Boys

In the teen adventure series Nowhere Boys, the four main characters each represent an element-—Felix with the power of fire, Andy with the power of water, Sam with the power of air and Jake with the power of earth. Felix later discovers that his younger brother, Oscar is the missing fifth element needed for them to return to their own universe. That element is spirit.

SETS OF FOUR

Sailor Moon[edit]

Main article: Sailor Moon

Most of the Sailor Senshi characters in the Sailor Moon anime metaseries have elemental powers, some being inspired by Chinese elements (the Wu Xing) and some by Roman mythology. These are derived from the Japanese names given to their planets; even in civilian form, each superheroine has a surname which reflects her planet and her tremendously powerful Sailor powers.

Four of the Sailor Senshi (Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus) have elemental abilities based directly on their planets: Mercury for water, ice, and fog, Mars for fire, flame and heat, Jupiter for lightning, rocks, and plants, and Venus for metal and light. They also take inspiration from Greek mythology, especially Jupiter (lightning) and Venus (love). The other set of four (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Saturn) also have powers based on their planet names, but since the first three were not known from antiquity, their names derive from the Western names and therefore from Roman myth (resulting in "sky king," "sea king," and "land king" respectively). Sailor Uranus uses the forces of the air and wind, Sailor Neptune uses the forces of the sea and ocean, and Sailor Pluto is the Guardian of Space-Time and the Land. Sailor Saturn's element is given as earth, which corresponds to mythological harvest symbolism and to her vastly dark powers over death and destruction, and rebirth. The main character, Sailor Moon, along with the younger Sailor Chibi Moon, use elemental powers of pure moonlight.

Super Sentai/Power Rangers[edit]

Main articles: Super Sentai and Power Rangers

Several teams of Super Sentai and Power Rangers have used the classical elements thematically, with each Ranger having powers related to one element.

Normally, the Red Ranger represents fire, and the Blue Ranger water. For example, the Red Turbo Ranger and the Red Lightspeed Ranger have had Zords based on fire trucks, while the Blue Aquitian Ranger had a water-based attack. Gosei Sentai Dairanger drew heavily from Chinese mythology, and five of the Mythical Qi Beasts correspond to the Wu Xing. In Seijuu Sentai Gingaman and Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, the five Rangers represented fire (Red), water (Blue), wind (Green), lightning (Yellow) and flora (Pink), with earth (the Black Knight/the Magna Defender) added later.

The elements in Ninpuu Sentai Hurricanger are air (Red), earth (Yellow), water (Blue), with Kuwaga and Kabuto both wielding the power of lightning. The last two became the Thunder Rangers in Power Rangers Ninja Storm, sharing the element thunder, with the Green Samurai Ranger being a non-elemental (his power was dubbed "Green Samurai Power"). The elemental theme was here used more extensively than in previous series, and the Rangers’ attacks and fighting styles often reflect it. In Mahou Sentai Magiranger and Power Rangers Mystic Force, MagiRed (the Red Ranger) and Wolzard (the Wolf Warrior) share the element fire. The other Rangers have powers based on thunder (Yellow), water (Blue), air (Pink), earth (Green), ice (White), and light/the sun (MagiShine/the Solaris Knight). In Power Rangers: Samurai and its follow up season Super Samurai, the five rangers each represent the classical elements, albeit with forest in place of aether: fire (red), water (blue), sky (pink), earth (yellow) and forest (green). The Red Ranger has also shown use of lightning. Later on when the gold ranger is added, he harnesses the element of light.

The use of elements is not restricted to the protagonists. In Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGo-V, the demons Zylpheeza, Drop, Cobolda and Venus (Diabolico, Impus, Loki and Vypra in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue) each represent one of the four elements. In both versions, all monsters are affiliated with one of them, and relate to the same element.

THE FOURTH TRANSCENDENT CAMERA

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ThreeCameras

A few refinements to this general principle exist. As mentioned before, televised sports events use a variation on this, with as many cameras as the network can afford dotting various strategic points in the stadium (one of the very few good things to come out of Vince McMahon's XFL was the addition of a "floating" camera on zip wires above the field), all coordinated through one central broadcast booth. In addition, cooking shows shot in studios (the archetypes being Julia Child and Graham Kerr) sometimes include overhead views, either shot with a mirror over the stove and prep area (as Julia did) or with a fourth, fixed camera suspended from the ceiling. Finally, such setups will sometimes include handheld or shoulder cameras patched into the main board; they are switched the same way as the fixed cameras. (One particularly off-the-wall adaptation is seen on Paula Deen's show Paulas Party on Food Network; among the several cameras used on the show is a small lipstick camera used by Paula herself on the stage to show the inside of cooking pots and other assorted closeups.)

FOURS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salò,_or_the_120_Days_of_Sodom

In 1944 in the Republic of Salò, the Fascist-occupied portion of Italy, four wealthy men of power, the Duke, the Bishop, the Magistrate and the President, agree to marry each other's daughters as the first step in a debauched ritual. They recruit four teenage boys to act as guards (dressed with uniforms of Decima Flottiglia MAS) and four young soldiers (called "studs", "cockmongers" or "fuckers"), who are chosen because of their big penises. They then kidnap nine young men and nine young women and take them to a palace near Marzabotto. Accompanying them are four middle-aged prostitutes, also collaborators, who recount arousing stories for the men, who sadistically exploit their victims.

During the many days at the palace, the four men devise increasingly abhorrent tortures and humiliations for their own pleasure. During breakfast, the daughters enter the dining hall naked to serve food. One of the studs trips and rapes a daughter in front of the crowd, which laughs at her cries of pain. Intrigued, the President moons several slaves before prompting the stud to perform anal sex on him and the Duke sings 'Sul Ponte di perati' and everybody sings also. A girl who tries to escape is slain and a middle-aged prostitute continues with her story. Two victims are forced to marry. The ceremony is interrupted when the Duke fondles several victims and prostitutes. At the end, the bride and groom are forced to fondle each other and the men rape them to stop them from having sex with each other. During this, the Magistrate engages with the Duke in three-way intercourse.

RIPLEY CRUCIFIXION

http://flashbak.com/sci-fi-cross-crucifixion-pose-sf-film-tv-33293/

In Alien3 (1992), survivor Ellen Ripley (Sigrouney Weaver) is seen in the pose of the crucifixion at least twice, and appropriately so. She learns that she is carrying a deadly queen alien or xenomorph inside of her body, and that if it is born, it could hatch thousands of eggs. The human race — the universe itself — will be jeopardized by this new order. Ripley, who very much wants to live, realizes that she must end her own life to grant humanity a second chance, free from the evil: (the sin) of the aliens.

Complicating matters for Ripley, however, is the presence of Bishop II (Lance Henriksen). He comes to Ripley, a silver-tongued Devil, and tells her all the things she wants to hear so she doesn’t save humanity. He tells her she can still have a life, a family…children. He tells her that a simple surgery will remove the alien queen from her belly, and that he will kill the queen once it is out of her. But Ripley realizes she can’t trust him.

In the pose of the crucifix, she hurls herself to her death, ending her life and the alien threat. She dies so that humanity may live.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003-series)[edit]

Main article: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003 TV series)

In the 2003-series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Shredder has control over five mystical beings referred to as the Mystic Ninja. Each of the Mystic ninjas represent and have control over one of the basic elements: Earth, Fire, Water, Wind and Metal. The Mystic Ninja serve as guards to the Shredders throne room. They are held under the Shredders control with a mystic amulet known as the Heart of Tengu. The Mystics are later set free when they manage to have the amulet destroyed, and it is revealed that they are, in truth, heralds of and ancient Tengu demon known as the Original Shredder. The heralds are later destroyed by the Turtles and their allies.

THE FOUR LEGENDARY KNIGHTS ON QUARTON (QUAR MEANS FOUR)- FOUR PIECES OF MUSIC

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenkai_Knights

Eons ago, a cube–like peaceful planet named Quarton, populated by shape–shifting living bricks called Tenkai, was ravaged by a war between two opposite factions: the Corekai Soldiers, led by the valiant and fearless Commander Beagle ("Beag"); and the Corrupted Army, led by the ruthless Lord Vilius, who desired to obtain the source of Tenkai energy for his own purposes. However, the only ones who were strong enough to defeat him were the 4 Legendary Tenkai Knights of Quarton: Bravenwolf, Tributon, Valorn and Lydendor. Facing defeat, Vilius unleashed the mighty Tenkai Dragon, who was later defeated by the 4 Knights, its fragments scattered across the planet. These heroes were never seen again, but now, a year later, Lord Vilius and the infamous Corrupted Army have returned, more powerful than ever before.

Now, on planet Earth, in the year 2034, within Benham City, four young teenage boys Guren, Ceylan, Toxsa, and Chooki find an interdimensional portal to Quarton where they are chosen by Boreas of the Guardians to become the new generation of Tenkai Knights and prevent Lord Vilius and his Corrupted Army empire from taking control of both worlds.

Four pieces of theme music are used for the episodes: one opening theme and three closing themes. The opening theme is "Get the Glory" by Ayako Nakanomori. The first ending theme is "Shunkan Diamond" (瞬間Diamond Shunkan Diamond, lit. "Diamond Moment") by Rurika Yokoyama, while the second ending is "Shōri no Hanataba o -gonna gonna be hot!-" (勝利の花束を-gonna gonna be hot!- lit. "Victory Bouquet -gonna gonna be hot!-") by Cyntia. The third ending, "Densetsu no FLARE" (伝説のFLARE - lit. "Legendary Flare"), is sung by Pile. The series' soundtrack is composed by MONACA of Star Driver fame.

FOUR OF THEM

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xiaolin_Showdown

Xiaolin Showdown is an American animated television series that aired on Kids WB and was created by Christy Hui. Set in a world where martial arts battles and Eastern magic are commonplace, the series follows four young Xiaolin warriors in training who battle the Heylin forces of evil. They do this by protecting Shen Gong Wu (ancient artifacts that have great magical powers) from villains that would use them to conquer the world. Typical episodes revolve around a specific Shen Gong Wu being revealed which results in both sides racing to find it. Episodes usually reach a head when one good and one evil character must challenge each other to a magical duel called a Xiaolin Showdown for possession of the artifact.

Four young monks – Omi, Kimiko, Raimundo, and Clay – are forced into cooperation at the Xiaolin Temple after learning they are chosen to become Xiaolin Dragons. They become friends and work together traveling the world in search for Shen Gong Wu, mystical objects with powers that balance the forces of good and evil. Along the way, they must battle wannabe evil boy genius Jack Spicer, and the evil Heylin sorceress Wuya, whom Jack inadvertently frees from a 1500-year imprisonment in a puzzle box by Grand Master Dashi. Through thievery, Spicer ultimately possesses enough Shen Gong Wu to form Mala Mala Jong, an ancient monster that Wuya uses to help her gain control of the world. Raimundo defies orders and fights the monster, causing the remaining monks to fight and defend the remaining Shen Gong Wu in the Temple's possession. All the monks, except for Raimundo because of his reckless disobedience, are promoted to Xiaolin Apprentices due to their bravery.[8] Angered, Raimundo joins the Heylin side and helps Wuya regain her human form.[9]

In Xiaolin Showdown, when more than one person grabs a Shen Gong Wu at the same time, a Xiaolin Showdown occurs. In this namesake competition, each side wagers a Shen Gong Wu he/she already owns. In some cases, the competitors invoke a Shen Yi Bu Dare, where multiple (usually two) Shen Gong Wu are wagered. The winner obtains all the Shen Gong Wu fought for, totaling five Shen Gong Wu. In some cases, when more than two people touch a Shen Gong Wu at once, a different kind of Xiaolin Showdown occurs: the Showdown Trio is a two-on-one or three-person free-for-all, a Xiaolin Showdown Tsunami is either a two-on-two or a four-person free-for-all Showdown, and an Eight-Way Xiaolin Showdown is a four-on-four Showdown. One can also call for a Cosmic Clash Showdown, allowing the caller to bring more people into the Showdown, who did not touch the Shen Gong Wu (however, in this type of showdown, one of the competitors must be over one-half Shen Gong Wu and look kind of freakish). Generally, the competitors in a Xiaolin Showdown of any type use the Shen Gong Wu that they wagered to compete with. However, there have been instances where a Shen Gong Wu not wagered was used in the Xiaolin Showdown, as in "The Last Temptation of Raimundo" when Wuya used the Shroud of Shadows against the Xiaolin Warriors while she was possessing Raimundo. Another showdown was in "Enter The Dragon" when Omi uses the Reversing Mirror and Shroud of Shadows on Dojo.

FOUR ELEMENTS

Xiaolin Showdown[edit]

Main article: Xiaolin Showdown

In the KidsWB series, Xiaolin Showdown, the four main characters were monk children of the four elements: Omi (water), Raimundo (wind), Kimiko (fire), Clay (earth). In the first season, the call out their element and their fighting skill is increased dramactically. In the second season, they're able to bring their element into a physical form performing a fighting stance. For example, Omi's Tsunami Strike where he spins his entire body to allow water to fly everywhere. In the third season, the monks are promoted to Wudai Warriors. The promotion apparently unlocked their ability to bring the elements into physical form, but they can control them without any limitations.

The base of the show revolves around collecting mystical items called Shen Gong Wu on which some of them are able to conjure elements.

W.I.T.C.H.[edit]

Main article: W.I.T.C.H. (TV series)

The Disney cartoon series WITCH is centered on five girls who receive magical powers to fight evil in fantasy worlds parallel to their own, and each power is based on an element, with the corresponding "guardian" being able to produce said element from nothing, control and manipulate it or mentally communicate with it. The fifth element, in this story, is the Heart of Candracar, an immensely strong and powerful magical mystical crystal amulet that grants the girls their powers and greatly increases them to much greater power-levels, which is worn by Will, the leader of the group. In the second season it is revealed that the fifth element is actually Quintessence which is described as "the very lifeblood substance or essence of life itself" and is Will's own elemental ability. As such Quintessence manifests as whitish-blue lightning that contains pure life energy within to literally "make things come alive."

THE GIRLS REPRESENT THE FIVE CLASSICAL ELEMENTS WITH QUINTESSANCE

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W.I.T.C.H.

The 5 classical elements themselves have something in store for the girls: their powers are growing stronger and stronger. Each Guardian has discovered new and much, much stronger magical abilities, yet their elemental abilities are going out of control. Even the Triumvirate of Kandrakar does not have full understanding about it. At the same time, Cedric is disposed of his magical strength and power and gets a second chance from the Oracle. He returns to "Ye Olde Book Shop" to live a decent life, under supervision from the Guardians. Nevertheless, he searches for a useful resource to regain his powers in hopes of getting revenge on the Guardians. He finds his luck in the Book of Elements, written by Jonathan Ludmoore (which the Guardians later found out). About a century before, Jonathan Ludmoore was an alchemist who came from Metamoor and it was Prince Phobos who had sent him to Heatherfield in order to open the Twelve Portals. After completing his mission, Ludmoore discovered that the city is a place where all five elements-Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Quintessence- met and stayed. He experimented on the elements but it trapped Ludmoore in his own book and released all five elemental stones throughout the city.

After Matt was swallowed by the Book of Elements (thanks to Cedric), the Guardians must cooperate with Cedric in order to save Matt. The book gives them riddles as clues and the Guardians must used these riddles to look for the scattered elemental stones. Endarno warned the Guardians that in order to capture these stones, they must face the Elemental Guards that stand and protect them. One by one, the girls were able to find the stones, and back in the bookstore, Cedric and Orube slowly fell deeply in love. However, the Guardians, Cedric, and Orube were sucked into the world of the book when Will refuses to surrender the Heart of Kandrakar. Cedric was later killed by Ludmoore and dissolved into ink when he tried to protect Orube from Ludmoore's deadly gaze. The Guardians later found Matt and managed to defeat Ludmoore once and for all (with Matt's help). While Orube mourns for Cedric's death Will's mother, Susan Vandom, married her history teacher, Dean Collins. Orube left and a magical portal in the shape of the Heart of Kandrakar later appeared in the basement of the "Ye Olde Book Shop".

ACCORDING TO EMPEDOCLES AND ARISTOTLE THE FOURTH ELEMENT FIRE WAS DIFFERENT/TRANSCENDENT AND THE FIFTH AETHER ULTRA TRANSCENDENT WITCH TV SHOW FOLLOWS THAT

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W.I.T.C.H._(TV_series)

Protagonists[edit]

Will Vandom (Kelly Stables) is leader of The Guardians of the Veil and the owner of the Heart of Kandrakar. Will moves to Heatherfield with her mother at the beginning of the series. Originally Will's powers are limited to activating the transformation into Guardian form and sealing portals. However, in the second season Will fully gains her own elemental ability of Quintessence, the fifth element, which grants her electrokinetic abilities. In addition, Will is able to communicate with electrical appliances. Her only love interest and boyfriend throughout the series is Matt Olsen.

Irma Lair (Candi Milo) is the Guardian of Water whose ability allows her to control water, and in the second season, the power of mind control. Irma acts as the series' comic relief, providing witty dialogue and remarks, which is often a source of irritation for Cornelia. Irma is appointed as the station manager of Sheffield Institute's radio station, she titles her radio segment Lair on the Air.[4] Unlike the other Guardians, Irma does not have a boyfriend despite her affection for Andrew Hornby and the unrequited attention from Martin Tubbs.

Taranee Cook (Kali Troy) is the Guardian of Fire, able to create and manipulate Fire, and in the second season, she has the ability to telepathically communicate with the other Guardians. Taranee is dedicated to her schoolwork, and often uses her intellect to defeat enemies. Her boyfriend is Nigel Ashcroft, whose social circle initially causes mistrust by Taranee's parents.

Cornelia Hale (Christel Khalil) is the Guardian of Earth granting her the ability to control earth and plants and in the second season, she gains the power of telekinesis. Cornelia is vain and haughty, and is often a foil to Will. But she begins to warm up to her eventually, throughout the series. She is best friends with Elyon Brown, later revealed to be the missing Princess of Meridian. Cornelia becomes romantically involved with Caleb. His duties in Meridian later cause a rift in their relationship.

Hay Lin (Liza del Mundo) is the Guardian of Air which enables her to control Air, and also become invisible in the second season. Her paternal grandmother, Yan Lin, was the previous Guardian of Air and introduced the new Guardians to their roles. Hay Lin is of Chinese descent and her parents own The Silver Dragon, a Chinese restaurant, where Hay Lin works part-time. Hay Lin enjoys art and is a free spirit. Despite her original distaste for dating, Hay Lin becomes infatuated with Eric Lyndon who eventually becomes her boyfriend.

IMAGERY REFLECTING THE FOUR PRIMARY ELEMENTS FOUR PRIMARY ELEMENTS IN ADVENTURE TIME UNIVERSE

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elements_(miniseries)

Much like Stakes and Islands,[8][9] Elements has a unique title sequence that was designed just for the miniseries.[10] The new intro was storyboarded by Hanna K. Nyström and, much like the intros for both Stakes and Islands, was animated by Masaaki Yuasa's company Science SARU. The sequence was unveiled via the official Adventure Time Tumblr on April 3; at this time, the site noted: "Once again, we were lucky enough to feature a new intro animated by Science SARU for the upcoming Elements miniseries;"[10] Nyström later called it "a treat" to storyboard the intro.[11] Unlike the usual sequence which begins episodes of Adventure Time, the Elements intro features imagery reflecting the four primary elements in the Adventure Time universe. The theme itself is sung by Hynden Walch, the voice actress for Princess Bubblegum.[10]

FOUR STAGE SHOWS

The members of Monty Python embarked on a series of stage shows during and after the television series. These mostly consisted of sketches from the series, though they also included other famous sketches that had preluded them. One such sketch was the Four Yorkshiremen sketch, written by Cleese and Chapman, and performed for At Last the 1948 Show; the sketch subsequently became part of the live Python repertoire. The shows also included songs from collaborator Neil Innes.

Recordings of four of these stage shows have subsequently appeared as separate works:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Python%27s_Flying_Circus

Monty Python Live at Drury Lane (aka Monty Python Live at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), released in the UK in 1974 as their fifth record album

Monty Python Live at City Center, performed in New York City and released as a record in 1976 in the US

Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl, recorded in Los Angeles in 1980 and released as a film in 1982

Monty Python Live (Mostly): One Down, Five to Go, the troupe's reunion / farewell show, ran for 10 shows at The O2 Arena in London in July 2014. The final performance on 20 July was live streamed to cinemas worldwide and was later released on DVD.

FOUR DIFFERENT ENDINGS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salò,_or_the_120_Days_of_Sodom

It seems that Pasolini was undecided on what type of conclusion the film should have, to the point of having conceived and shot four different endings: the first was a shot of a red flag in the wind with the words "Love You," but it was abandoned by the director because he thought it "too pompous" and "prone to the ethics of psychedelic youth" which he detested.[38] The second showed all the actors in the film, other than the four gentlemen, the director and his troupe perform a wild dance in a room of the villa furnished with red flags, and the scene was filmed with the purpose of using it as a background during the credits, but was discarded because it appeared, in the eyes of Pasolini, chaotic and unsatisfactory.[38] Another final scene, discovered recently and which was only in the initial draft of the script, showed, after the torture's end, the four gentlemen walk out of the house and drawing conclusions about the morality of the whole affair.[39] Finally, keeping the idea of dance as the summation of carnage Pasolini chose to mount the so-called final "Margherita," with the two young soldiers dancing.[38]

MULTIPLE CHOICE FOUR CHOICES

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duel_(U.S._game_show)

Each player began a duel with ten chips, each worth $5,000 (for a combined total of $50,000). Before each question was asked, a screen rose between the contestants to hide their answers from each other. The duel always began with the catchphrase "Let's Duel!" before the question was heard. Each question was multiple choice with four choices. The question was read by the host while the contestants used their chips to cover choices, one chip per choice. They were allowed to cover any number of choices, provided they had enough chips. After both players had locked in their answers, the screen was lowered so contestants could see each other's choices, and the correct answer was then revealed. All chips placed on wrong answers were collected and their value was added to a jackpot.

FOUR ROUNDS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emogenius

Round 1: Get the Message[edit]

Each team is given two questions based on fictional text message conversations, each consisting a question being asked, and the reply being a series of emoji. The team has 15 seconds to decipher the reply. Each team's first question is worth $100; each team's second question is worth $200. If the team fails to decipher the reply, their opponents have five seconds to decipher the same message for half the money.

Round 2: In-App Purchase[edit]

Each team is shown a category and an emoji-based clue. The opening value of the question is $300. The team may swipe upwards on their touchscreen up to two times to receive easier clues, however, each additional clue reduces the value by $100. The team must solve the clues within 20 seconds to earn the remaining money. If they fail to do so, the other team has five seconds to solve for the remaining money. Each team is given two questions in this round.

Round 3: Hit Send[edit]

The leading team goes first in this round. One member of each team is designated the sender, the other is the receiver. The sender is shown a message to send, as Hunter announces the category, and uses the emoji on their touchscreen to communicate the message to their partner. Either member of the team may pass at any time. Each message successfully communicated is worth $400. Each team has 45 seconds to communicate as many messages as possible. The team that has more money at the end of the round wins the game, keeps their money, and plays the final round for $10,000. If the team that was originally trailing overtakes their opponents, they are allowed to finish out their round in an effort to win additional money.

In the event of a tie at the end of this round, both teams are shown one more emoji message. The first team to buzz in by touching their screen is given the opportunity to answer; if they are correct, they win the game.[4]

Final Round: Masters of Text[edit]

The final round is played in a similar manner to the Hit Send round; one member of the team begins as the sender of emoji messages, the other as the receiver. Again, the team may pass as often as needed, however, they will only switch roles when the receiver successfully solves the message. Each message solved is worth $200; if the team successfully solves five messages within 60 seconds, their winnings are increased to $10,000.[5]

FOUR LEVELS

Using their accumulated time, the winning couple played the bonus round for a series of prizes of increasing value. Four levels of prizes were available, each requiring a different number of correct answers. The prize on the fourth level was always a car. All questions in this round had three answer choices.

At the beginning of each level, the couple chose one of two categories and the husband and wife alternated answering the questions. If they gave the required number of correct answers before time ran out, the clock was stopped and they advanced to the next level. Four answers were needed to clear the first level, five for the second, six for the third, and seven for the fourth.

If the couple cleared the fourth level before time ran out, they won the car and all the prizes at the lower three levels. Otherwise, they won the prizes for the levels they had cleared, plus $100 for each correct answer given on the current level when time ran out.

FOUR PERSON RALLY TEAM FOUR WHEELS

Speed skating originally started on traditional roller skates. The speed skating season began in fall and continued through spring leading up to a state tournament. Placing in the top three places at a state tournament would qualify skaters for a regional tournament. The top three places at regional tournaments then went on to compete at a national tournament. Skaters could qualify as individuals or as part of a two-person or four-person (relay) team. Qualification at regional events could warrant an invite to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO for a one-week training session on their outdoor velodrome. Inline speed skating is a competitive non-contact sport played on inline skates. Variants include indoor, track and road racing, with many different grades of skaters, so the whole family can compete.

1863: The four-wheeled turning roller skate, or quad skate, with four wheels set in two side-by-side pairs (front and rear), was first designed, in New York City by James Leonard Plimpton in an attempt to improve upon previous designs. The skate contained a pivoting action using a rubber cushion that allowed the skater to skate a curve just by pressing his weight to one side or the other, most commonly by leaning to one side. It was a huge success, so much so that the first public roller skating rinks were opened in 1866, first in New York City by Plimpton in his furniture store and then in Newport, Rhode Island with the support of Plimpton. The design of the quad skate allowed easier turns and maneuverability, and the quad skate came to dominate the industry for more than a century.

THE FOUR MAIN CHARACTERS OF KING OF THE HILL

In flashbacks throughout the series, the four main characters, Dale, Hank, Boomhauer, and Bill, are shown to have grown up together. This may seem to work against my theory, but I actually think it works in favor. Boomhauer was specifically chosen for this assignment because he already had a relationship with Dale, and no one would view him as an 'outsider' within his own hometown. Boomhauer's superiors chose him so they would not have to waste time and resources getting another Ranger close to Dale. It had already been done. So they sent him back to Arlen, likely with a cover story to give to his childhood friends about why he was suddenly back in town.
