Foursome (golf)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A foursome, also known as alternate shot, is a type of match in the sport of golf.

Golfers compete in teams of two, using only one ball per team, and taking alternate shots until the hole is completed.[1] Team members take turns in teeing off on each hole, i.e. one player will take the tee shot on odd-numbered holes, and the other on even-numbered holes.

Foursomes is commonly played as match play, with each hole being won by the team that completes it in the fewest shots. This form of golf is often played in team golf competitions such as the Ryder Cup,[2] Solheim Cup, Seve Trophy and the Presidents Cup. Foursomes can also be played in stroke play competitions, with the winners being the team who have taken the fewest number of strokes to complete a set number of holes.

The National Football League (NFL) regular season begins the weekend after Labor Day in early September and ends in December or early January. It consists of 256 games, where each team (32 total) plays 16 games during a 17-week period. Since 2012, the NFL schedule generally has games in one of five time slots during the week. A game played on Thursday night, kicking off at 8:25 PM (ET). The majority of games are played on Sunday, most kicking off at 1:00 PM (ET), some late afternoon games starting at 4:05 or 4:25 PM (ET). Additionally, one Sunday night game is played every week at 8:30 PM (ET). One Monday night game then starts at 8:30 PM (ET) every week with the exception of the first week of the regular season, in which two Monday night games are played back-to-back (the second game always occurring on the West coast), as well as the last week of the season, in which no Monday night game is held. In addition to these regularly scheduled games, there are occasionally games at other times, such as a Saturday afternoon or evening, or the annual Thanksgiving Day games in which three games are played. During the final week of the regular season, all games are held on Sunday.

National League 1, (which was known before September 2009 as National Division Two), is the third level of domestic rugby union competition in England. It was known as Courage League National Division Three when founded in 1987.[1] This is the lowest level of the English rugby union league system which is nationwide. The league consists of sixteen teams with all the teams playing each other on a home and away basis to make a total of thirty matches each. There is one promotion place and three relegation places. The champions are promoted to the Greene King IPA Championship and the bottom three teams are relegated to either National League 2 North or National League 2 South (formerly National Division Three North and South) depending on the geographical location of the team.

FOUR BACKS IN FOOTBALL

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_formations_in_American_football

This is one of the most common formations used at all levels of football. It consists of two backs lined up behind the quarterback, with the back closest to the quarterback being called the fullback and the back behind the fullback called the running back, tailback, or I-back. The two backs line up either in a line (hence the name of the formation since it looks like a letter I) or with the fullback "offset" to either side. The fourth back is most commonly employed as an extra wide receiver. Here are three diagrams of I-Formation, strong side right (that is, with the tight end lining up to the right, typical for a right-handed quarterback). Notice that the 4th back required by the rules is the set-back wide receiver at the right (called the flanker).

It was decided to set up a 4-level league system: Premier, First, Second and Third divisions.[1]

Sixteen northern and sixteen southern clubs entered the top level championship in the 1990–91 season. Previously, two separate championships were used for North Yemen and South Yemen.

The season was played in three stages. The first stage featured four groups of 8 teams. The group winners would advance to stage two which was in effect a semi-final stage. The winners would go through to the final

First Stage[edit]

Played in 4 groups of 8 clubs each, all groups having 4 northern and 4 southern clubs; groups played as double round robin.

THE FOUR KINGS- REPERSENT FOUR CLASSES OF MEDEIVAL SOCIETY

http://www.snopes.com/history/world/cardking.asp

CLAIM: The four kings in a deck of playing cards represent Charlemagne, David, Caesar, and Alexander.

Italian decks contained fifty-six cards, included four types of court cards (king, queen, knight, and knave) and were divided into four suits (cups, swords, coins, and batons)

The composition and design of playing card decks varied with time and locale (particularly the number of cards in a deck), but the inclusion of both numbered cards and court cards (or “royals”) — and the division of cards into different suits — were standard features from early on. Italian decks contained fifty-six cards, included four types of court cards (king, queen, knight, and knave) and were divided into four suits (cups, swords, coins, and batons)

Over the years, various scholars have put forth the notion that the four suits in a deck of playing cards were intended to represent the four classes of medieval society.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four-ball_billiards

Four-ball billiards (often abbreviated to simply four-ball, and sometimes spelled 4-ball or fourball) is a carom billiards game, played on a pocketless table with four billiard balls, usually two red and two white, one of the latter with a spot to distinguish it (in some sets, one of the white balls is yellow instead of spotted). Each player is assigned one of the white (or yellow) balls as a cue ball. A point is scored when a shooter's cue ball caroms on any two other balls in the same shot (with the opponent's cue ball serving as an object ball, along with the reds, for the shooter). Two points are scored when the shooter caroms on each of the three object balls in a single shot.[1] A carom on only one ball results in no points, and ends the shooter's inning.

The 2017 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was an international professional baseball competition, composed of 16 competing nations, held from March 6 to March 22, 2017. It was the fourth iteration of the WBC. The first-round hosts were Seoul, Tokyo, Miami and Zapopan. The second-round hosts were Tokyo and San Diego, and the championship round was played in Los Angeles.[1]

Twelve of the sixteen competing nations qualified based on their performance during the first round of the 2013 tournament; the remaining four nations are the winners of four qualification tournaments that took place in February and September 2016.[2] Two of the four qualifiers, Colombia and Israel, each made their first appearance in the World Baseball Classic, and both have secured their positions for the 2021 World Baseball Classic.

The 3Live Kru (The 3LK) was a professional wrestling stable in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). The 3Live Kru debuted in July 2003, and was initially a trio of wrestlers, consisting of Ron Killings, Konnan and B.G. James. The gimmick of the 3Live Kru was that each member of the group exemplified a racial caricature of their particular ethnicity. In addition, the Kru would rap as they approached the ring, and each member of the group wore camouflage clothing.

The Southern white James was dubbed "The Trailer Park Gangsta" or "B-Jizzle". The black Killings, already known as "The Truth", was dubbed "The Suntan Superman". The brown Latino Konnan was dubbed "The Magic Stick", his New World Order (nWo) nickname "K-Dogg", or sometimes "K-Dizzle."

In November 2005, they aligned with Kip James, and began referring to themselves as the 4Live Kru (The 4LK). They disbanded on December 11, 2005.

The Flintstones were a group of three basketball players from Flint, Michigan who helped lead the Michigan State Spartans to the 2000 NCAA Division I Men's National Championship.[1] Originally, there were four members of "The Flintstones," but Antonio Smith graduated in 1999.

The name of the Flintstones rose to prominence during the successful run of Michigan State basketball including three consecutive Final Fours and a national championship. The four made up the core nucleus of the team. The players also sported tattoos bearing the name Flint, along with a basketball on their upper arms.

The name has since expanded to become popular to be used to refer to other basketball players, other athletes, and Flint natives.

THE BIG FOUR THRASH BANDS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrash_metal

In 1981, a Southern California band Leather Charm wrote a song entitled "Hit the Lights". Leather Charm soon disbanded and the band's primary songwriter, vocalist/rhythm guitarist James Hetfield met drummer Lars Ulrich through a classified advertisement. Together, Hetfield and Ulrich formed Metallica, the first of the "Big Four" thrash bands, with lead guitarist Dave Mustaine, who would later form Megadeth, another of the "Big Four" originators of thrash, and bassist Ron McGovney. Metallica later relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. McGovney was replaced with Cliff Burton, and Mustaine was later replaced with Kirk Hammett. "Hit the Lights" was featured on their first studio album, Kill 'Em All, released in mid–1983.[12]

Although the 2006 and 2009 editions of the WBC were contested by the same pre-selected field of 16 teams, for the 2013 tournament only the 12 teams that won at least one game in 2009 were guaranteed a berth. The other four contested a qualifying round in late 2012, along with 12 additional teams. As a result, two new teams competed for the first time: (Brazil and Spain, respectively replacing Panama and South Africa). The main tournament took place in March 2013, and ended with the Dominican Republic defeating Puerto Rico in the final. The Dominican Republic also became the first team to win the tournament with a perfect record (8-0). In 2017, Team USA won against Puerto Rico, 8-0. This was the first USA title.

The 2006 and 2009 tournaments each had the same 16–team field, chosen by invitation. Beginning with the 2013 tournament, the four last-placed teams from the previous tournament's first round each contested a qualifying round against three new teams. The outcome of this process has been that 14 of the original 16 teams have continued to appear in every tournament. In 2013, Canada and Chinese Taipei re-qualified while Panama and South Africa were respectively replaced by Brazil and Spain. In 2017, Australia and Mexico re-qualified while Brazil and Spain were respectively replaced by Israel and Colombia.

The tournament was the 45th edition of Copa América since its inception in 1916. It was held as part of an agreement between CONMEBOL (the South American football confederation) and CONCACAF (the football confederation for North and Central America and the Caribbean) as a special edition between the usual four-year cycle, and featured an expanded field of 16 teams (an increase from the usual 12), with all ten teams from CONMEBOL and six teams from CONCACAF. And despite the tournament being an official iteration of the Copa América, the winner would not receive an invitation to the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup (nonetheless, eventual winners Chile had already qualified through their 2015 victory).

The four group pots contained four positions each,[38] one from each group, as follows:

The group seeds and match schedule were announced on 17 December 2015.[33] The United States (Group A) were seeded as host, while Argentina (Group D) were seeded as the highest FIFA-ranked team in the CONMEBOL region during December 2015. According to Soccer United Marketing, Brazil (Group B) and Mexico (Group C) were seeded as they were "the most decorated nations in the last 100 years in international competitions from their respective confederations".[34] However, there was criticism for not including Uruguay, which won two World Cups and was the Copa América all-time leader with 15 championships, or Chile, which were the defending Copa América champions going into the tournament.[35][36]

The draw took place on 21 February 2016 at 19:30 EST, at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Teams were seeded using the FIFA Ranking from December 2015.[37]

I DESCRIBED THE PINS IN BOWLING ARE ARRANGED IN A TETRACTYS- WHICH THE GREEKS WORSHIPPED AS THE ULTIMATE FORM (FOUR LINES OF TEN IN TOTAL)- THERE IS ALSO THE FOUR STEP APPROACH IN BOWLING

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bowling_all.svg

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten-pin_bowling

The ten pins are usually automatically set by machine into four rows which form an equilateral triangle where there are four pins on a side (Pythagorean Tetractys). Neighboring pins are set up 12 inches (30 cm) apart, measured from center to center. There are four pins in the back row, then three, then two, and finally one in the front at the center of the lane. To ease communication, pins are numbered one through ten, starting with "head pin" in front, and ending with ten in the back to the right.

The “four-step” approach is most commonly applied, with the right foot slightly ahead of the left at starting position (for right handed bowlers).[24

Footwork[edit]

The conventional bowling footwork styles use either a four- or five-step approach beginning 8 to 16 feet (2.4 to 4.8 meters) behind the foul line. In the typical four-step approach, the ball is pushed away from the body in step one; step two has the ball at the bottom of the backswing; in step three, the ball is at the top of the backswing; finally, the ball is swung forward and delivered in conjunction with the fourth and final slide-step. In a five-step approach, the bowler takes an initial timing step before pushing the ball away from the body.

I DESCRIBED THAT POOL HAS 16 BALLS- 16 SQUARES QMR- THIS IS A 16 PLAYER POOL TOURNAMENT (or 32 which is 16 times two)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Pool_Masters_Tournament

The World Pool Masters Tournament (or World Pool Masters for short) is an annual international nine-ball tournament. Formerly, it was called the European Pool Masters[1] until players from other parts of the globe were invited.

Throughout much of its history, the tournament has been featuring sixteen world-class pool players, competing in single-elimination format. By 2010, the number of players was doubled to 32. The first round of the event was played in double elimination and the next went back to single-elimination.[2]

In 2011 the tournament reverts to the original 16-player Single Elimination format, with each match a Race-to-8, winner breaks. The 2011 edition was held in SM North EDSA Mall in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Ralf Souquet of Germany won the said tournament for the record-setting sixth time, beating defending champion Dennis Orcollo of the Philippines, 8-5.[3]

THERE ARE FOUR DOWNS IN FOOTBALL- I TALKED ABOUT THE FOUR BACKS AND I WENT OVER SOCCER AND EVERY SPORT IN MY OTHER SECITONS AND SHOWED HOW THE QUADRANT MODEL PERMEATES SPORTS- THERE ARE THE BIG FOUR SPORTS LEAGUES- FOUR QUARTER GAMES

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football

The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs, or plays, or else they turn over the football to the opposing team; if they succeed, they are given a new set of four downs. Points are primarily scored by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts for a field goal. The team with the most points at the end of a game wins.

Other major rule changes included a reduction of the field size to 110 by 53.333 yards (100.584 m × 48.768 m), and the adoption of a scoring system that awarded four points for a touchdown

The offensive team must line up in a legal formation before they can snap the ball. An offensive formation is considered illegal if there are more than FOUR players in the backfield

Football games last for a total of 60 minutes in professional and college play and are divided into two halves of 30 minutes and four quarters of 15 minutes.[70][71] High school football games are 48 minutes in length with two halves of 24 minutes and four quarters of 12 minutes.

The offense is given a series of four plays, known as downs. If the offense advances ten or more yards in the four downs, they are awarded a new set of four downs. If they fail to advance ten yards, possession of the football is turned over to the defense. In most situations, if the offense reaches their fourth down they will punt the ball to the other team, which forces them to begin their drive from further down the field; if they are in field goal range, they might also attempt to score a field goal.[58] A group of officials, the chain crew, keeps track of both the downs and the distance measurements.[84] On television, a yellow line is electronically superimposed on the field to show the first down line to the viewing audience.[85]

THE BIG FOUR SPORTS LEAGUES- THE NFL HAS 32 TEAMS- THAT IS 16 TIMES 2

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_professional_sports_leagues_in_the_United_States_and_Canada

The major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada are the highest professional competitions of team sports in those countries. The four leagues universally included in the definition are Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Football League (NFL), and the National Hockey League (NHL). Other prominent leagues include Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Canadian Football League (CFL).

The MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL are commonly referred to as the "Big 4". Each of these is the wealthiest professional club competition in its sport worldwide, and along with the English Premier League they make up the top five sports leagues by revenue in the world. In addition, the sports of these four leagues were all developed in their modern forms in North America, and all except American football have become popular internationally. Because the leagues enjoy a significant place in popular culture in the U.S. and Canada, the best players from these leagues often become cultural icons in both countries.

Currently, the NFL has 32 teams, and the others have 30 each (with the NHL expanding to 31 teams in 2017). The vast majority of major league teams are concentrated in the most populous metropolitan areas of the United States and Canada. Unlike the promotion and relegation systems used in sports leagues in various other regions around the world, those teams in the North American sports leagues remain static from season-to-season, unless they are disbanded or relocated. Each Big Four league, as well as Major League Soccer and the Canadian Football League, averages at least 15,000 fans in attendance per game as of 2015.

Swim styles[edit]

In competitive swimming, four major styles have been established. These have been relatively stable over the last 30–40 years with minor improvements. They are:

Butterfly

Backstroke

Breaststroke

Freestyle

In competition, only one of these styles may be used except in the case of the individual medley, or IM, which consists of all four. In this latter event, swimmers swim equal distances of butterfly, then backstroke, breaststroke, and finally, freestyle.[9] In Olympic competition, this event is swum in two distances – 200 and 400 meters. Some short course competitions also include the 100-yard or 100-meter IM – particularly, for younger swimmers (typically under 14 years) involved in club swimming, or masters swimming (over 18).

FOUR DOWNS IN FOOTBALL

4th & ballgame: Informal term referring to the late-game situation where the team with the ball is losing and has reached 4th down, and failure to convert that 4th down will seal the outcome by being either the final play before the clock runs out, or a turnover would allow the winning team to run out the clock. The referee signals fourth down by raising his arm with a clenched fist.

It began with the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season.[1] Four teams play in two semifinal games, and the winners advance to the College Football Playoff National Championship.[2]

The CFP is the first time the top-level NCAA football championship has been determined by a bracket competition. A 13-member committee selects and seeds the four teams to take part.[3] This differs from the use of polls or computer rankings that had previously been used to select the participants for the Bowl Championship Series (BCS), FBS college football's title system from 1998 to 2013. The new format is a Plus-One system, an idea which became popular as an alternative to the BCS after the 2003 and 2004 seasons ended in controversy.[4][5]

FOUR MAJOR BOWL GAMES

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_football

In 1998, a new system was put into place called the Bowl Championship Series. For the first time, it included all major conferences (ACC, Big East, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-10, and SEC) and four major bowl games (Rose, Orange, Sugar and Fiesta). The champions of these six conferences, along with two "at-large" selections, were invited to play in the four bowl games. Each year, one of the four bowl games served as a national championship game. Also, a complex system of human polls, computer rankings, and strength of schedule calculations was instituted to rank schools. Based on this ranking system, the No.1 and No.2 teams met each year in the national championship game. Traditional tie-ins were maintained for schools and bowls not part of the national championship. For example, in years when not a part of the national championship, the Rose Bowl still hosted the Big Ten and Pac-10 champions.[146]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_World_Cup

In the tournaments between 1934 and 1978, 16 teams competed in each tournament, except in 1938, when Austria was absorbed into Germany after qualifying, leaving the tournament with 15 teams, and in 1950, when India, Scotland, and Turkey withdrew, leaving the tournament with 13 teams.[19] Most of the participating nations were from Europe and South America, with a small minority from North America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. These teams were usually defeated easily by the European and South American teams. Until 1982, the only teams from outside Europe and South America to advance out of the first round were: USA, semi-finalists in 1930; Cuba, quarter-finalists in 1938; North Korea, quarter-finalists in 1966; and Mexico, quarter-finalists in 1970.

Sixteen club qualified for the knock-out competition, two from each of the regional federations plus an additional third club from the South and West. In all cases the regional champions and runners-up qualified. In the West the third spot went to the third placed team of the championship while, in the South, the third spot was determined in a separate qualifying competition for runners-up and third placed teams.[1]

THE BALL ONLY HITS FOUR PINS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowling_form
A conventional roll of the bowling ball will enter the 1-3 pocket, and continue to roll from right-to-left (right-hander.) The ball actually hits only four pins - the 1, 3, 5 and 9 pins. This type of roll/hit applies to strokers, power strokers and crankers.

THERE ARE THREE MAIN STYLES BUT A FOURTH STYLE IS POPULAR IN ASIA- THE FOURTH IS ALWAYS DIFFERENT

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowling_form

Generally, there are three basic forms of 10-pin bowling. The most basic form is known as stroking, which is the most classic form. The most powerful form is known as cranking, which imparts great leverage and maximum rotation on the ball, but sacrifices accuracy. In between the two is the domain of the tweener, who has characteristics of both, but does not truly fit into either category. A well-known variant of "tweening" is the power stroker. Power stroking is often very similar to cranking and bowlers can often fit in either category, therefore bowlers that use one of these two styles are often simply known as power players.

A fourth style, known as helicopter, spinning, or UFO, is a style that is used to great effect in Asia

MARCH MADNESS FOUR REGIONS 16 TEAMS EACH- 16 SQUARES QMR

The four lowest ranked automatic bid teams and the four lowest ranked at-large teams in the tournament play in special play-in games called the First Four before the tournament.[2] The rest of the field is split into four regions of 16 teams, and those regions are seeded from one to 16. The top team in each region plays the 16th team, the second plays the 15th and so on. The winners of each game goes on to the next round and so on until only one team is standing. A team is knocked out of the tournament and has to go home as soon as they lose once, so the pressure is incredibly intense.

After a series of cryptic vignettes, on October 4, 2016, it was announced that "SAni†Y" would be part of the second annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament, though their identity remained anonymous.[1] On the October 12 episode of NXT, the stable made their debut during the first round of the tournament as four hooded individuals. The first two members to unmask were Alexander Wolfe and Sawyer Fulton, who defeated Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode, after the latter walked out on his partner. After the match, the other two members were revealed to be Eric Young and Nikki Cross after attacking Dillinger.[2] The following week, Cross made her in-ring debut against Danielle Kamela. Cross won the match, but continued to assault Kamela afterwards, forcing the referee to reverse his decision.[3] On November 2, in the second round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, Wolfe and Fulton defeated T.J. Perkins and Kota Ibushi. In the semi finals, on November 9, they were eliminated from the tournament by TM61. At the NXT tapings on November 30, it was teased that Fulton was no longer associated with the group after Eric Young stomped on Fulton's jacket before kicking it out of the ring. Big Damo O'Connor was teased as a potential new member of the faction after attacking No Way Jose and also stomping on and kicking Fulton's jacket.[4]

Fred and Wilma Flintstone are best friends with neighbors Barney and Betty Rubble. Though no age is ever given, all four of them appear to be somewhere in their late twenties in the original television series, adults but still a little unseasoned by life and occasionally prone to daydreams, get-rich-quick schemes, the occasional temper tantrum, and youthful misadventures.

Under the new Gauliga system, introduced after the Nazis came to power in 1933, the sixteen 1933–34 Gauliga champions competed in a group stage of four groups of four teams each, with the group winners advancing to the semi-finals. The two semi-final winners then contested the 1934 championship final.[6] While the number of teams in the competition, sixteen, had remained the same as in the previous seasons, the modus had changed compare to 1933, when all games were played in the knock-out format and the competition was shorter.[7]

16 CONTESTANTS- 16 SQUARES QMR

http://www.ipa.org.au/sectors/food/publication/1877/the-biggest-loser-is-the-nanny-state

The recently concluded reality TV show, The Biggest Loser, contains some surprising lessons for public policy. Of all the reality television shows bombarding us, The Biggest Loser best combines entertainment with the spectacle of social stratification. Particularly this season, where families compete in teams, we, the viewers, get the chance to confirm commonly held views about obese people. And those views are scathing and overwhelmingly directed at the actions (or inaction) of individual fat people. We believe fat people are that way through lack of control, through the poor choices they make, through their own fault.

And The Biggest Loser contestants fulfil our expectations.

Out of sixteen contestants, all of working age, only five appear to be in full-time employment: two hairdressers, a truckie in the mines, a teacher and a shop manager. The remaining eleven claim no job or only a part-time one: at KFC, doing the grounds for a bowling club, marriage celebrant, DJ. From the limited biographical information made available, only one, teacher Jodie Moon, has tertiary qualifications.

ATTEMPT TO FILL 2 BY 2 SQUARES UNTIL THE BOARD IS FILLED- 2 BY 2 IS QUADRANT

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fangqi

The pieces are played on grid line intersections, the same as in Go. The game is similar in concept to Nine Men's Morris:

Players alternate turns placing stones, attempting to form 2×2 squares, until the board is filled.

THIS IS A TETRACTYS- FOUR ROWS EQUALLING TO TEN- TETRA IS FOUR THAT IS WHAT THE GREEKS WORSHIPPED

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turup

There are several strategies that can be used in the game of Turup. This will list a few of the basic strategies involved when trying to create an equal with a players hand. The value of ten is the easiest card to equal through addition. The value of ten has the most combinations of cards to total. If the community pile included an Ace, Two (2), Three (3) and a Four (4) the total of the four cards would equal Ten (10). A player with a 10 could collect all four cards in the community pile and their own Ten (10) for a total of 5 cards won.

There are two versions of this game. In one version, each player has four pieces to drop. This is the version described below. In another version, each player has only three pieces to drop, which makes it identical to Tapatan.

GAME FROM THE ZUNI NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS- IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY IT IS FOUR TETRAHEDRONS- OR FOUR QUADRANTS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picaria

A 3×3 board is used for the first version. Three horizontal lines form the three rows. Three vertical lines form the three columns. Two diagonal lines connect the two opposite corners of the board. Additionally, there are four more diagonal lines connecting the midpoints. These four additional diagonal lines is what makes the Picaria board different from Tapatan or Achi. The intersection points are where the pieces are played.

The second version uses a similar board except there are four additional spaces or intersection points to play pieces at. The four additional spaces or intersection points are at the intersection of the four additional diagonal lines with those of the larger diagonal lines.

Each player has three pieces. One plays the black pieces, and the other plays the white pieces, however, any two colors or distinguishable objects will suffice.
